Will these wires do the trick?

Parts express sells the scosche cable for $1.59/ft, but you will get raped on shipping. Around $2 would be my guess.

the kit has a 4-8awg distro block!!!!!
enough wire for a main run, then to 8awg
they also give you 8awg for ground.....
he doesn't need the 4awg ground unless he's ditching all the 8awg and the distro block....
in which case, you get a lot of crap you don't need, you could probably get separately for cheaper

that is not true
you have a main run of 4awg which goes into a distro block
the distro block changes the wire size into 8awg (supplied in kit) which goes into your amp.
whatever goes into your amp should be whats coming out of your amp.......
so you have a run of 8awg ground wire (supplied in kit)
the only reason......
that you WOULD want to get the 4awg ground.......
is if you're only running a single amplifier. IN THAT CASE, you have no use for the distribution block, nor the 8awg runs of wire......
if that is the case, you will probably be better off getting your own wire, and putting your own connectors on the ends of it B)
make sense?

 

In that case, all you need is a short run of 4awg ground wire......
shouldn't be too expensive, as you're supposed to keep it under 2 feet, but i keep mine under a foot if possible. Even at a dollar a foot, its not bad.....
Then again, all you need is a single set of RCA cables, a long enough power wire to get to your amp plus an extra foot for ground, and the connectors.... could be less than 25 bucks. Hmmmmm
if you already have the wal mart kit might as well keep it in case you decide to get another amp later on.....
is that 4awg run going to be long enough?

 

They also sell a single amp kit, all 4 ga...

 

Get yourself a shit load of speaker wire, not just what you will need. That way when you get another amp for the front you dont have to go running back to the store. Unless you think you will loose the wire.

If you have a 4ga main feed, going to a 2way distirbution block, to 2 amps then you need to run 8ga back to another distrbution bock and then 4ga to a SINGLE grounding point


you dont want mutiple ground points it you can aviod it, it could cause noise


but in this case he does not need a muti-amp kit, so they one has too much wire

so instead of buying more wire, he could (like sandt said) run 2 runs of the 8ga (the kit has 6ft you should not need more than 2 for each run)

but the kit is fine

and who ever said take it back because he bought it at walmart COME ON, hey I have some oxygen free wire to sell you :lol:

in truth mike you are right, BUT the purpose of that particular kit was to run a separate ground to a single point otherwise he'd have a 4awg ground and a distro block instead of the 8awg ground wire.......
I have piggybacked grounds on a single point plenty of times and had no problems with it at all.
regardless...... im just telling him how it will work based on what the kit gives him......

i used a 4 gauge on the Z9000 and it was fine. Youll be fine with it.

 

i thought that kit came with 12 ga speaker wire??? at least the one that i bought did.... :unsure:
