Why?

I may not agree with what was said, but I am certinally not going to close everythread liek this

Where does it stop?

"site XXX.com did this"

"this happend here at XXX.com"

these are all the same basic things that were said here, in each cases the owner of that site would more than likly not be here to defend themselves

So are you saying I should not allow people to Voice there opinions on a site? wheather it be Commercial or not?

 

Let me get this straight.....you want the mods to take action when a member says anything negative about "your" forum? I believe these people are just expressing their views about CAF, not attacking it's members or the board. Ha...the only reason it gets mentioned at all is to remind us how we DON'T want this place to end up. To sum it all up I don't agree with YOU and that is MY view on the subject....take it or leave it.

 

Opinions or grudges?
I have seen nothing but grudges so far, nothing educational about these views, just mocking CAF- just because you agree with your other members' views here doesn't make them right. I find it brash and uncalled for to outright attack another site just because of a select few meatheads that may be bothering you. I call it attacking because you are making a mockery of the site, and complaining about how terrible it is. Why don't you just ignore the fools, and continue on with what the site is there for?

As for you JTz62, you weren't addressed in my comments, so if you are of the mindset of getting pissed off at me, save it- because you aren't going to get a reaction from me. I have nothing against any forum or site, we are here to advance a hobby, not start a war.

Understood-- thank you for the clarification-- typically the portrayal of utilization of capitals expresses anger/shouting, which is how I typically see it.

No hard feelings - just opposite sides of the fence on this matter. I prefer the more mature approach to matters reguarding someone's hard work (while I know not much work has been put into CAF, it's still costing money to keep up).

 

That's cool, I just thought you overreacted a little when you saw a few negative things about your board here. btw- I wasn't :rant: ing, I just forgot to italicize.

 

There isn't anything negative about my board here... I'm not affiliated with CAF in any way or form, I just go there when it is actually functioning...

Spyder-- you have to understand that a lot of the people that signed up were just like we were way back when (I can't think that far back anymore) and are really new to the place. Sometimes just suggesting a search or showing them what to look for is best.

and I have NEVER attackted CAF as a site, I have said thing about the as you say "meatheads"

the site itself was and can be again great, anytime you get that many members you will need ACTIVE moderators, which CAF lacked up until couple of months ago. Warbleed is doing a Bang up job.

 

You do make valid points here josh. I understand and agree with some of what you are saying.

One cannot deny that CAF is a wealth of information. For the most part the guys(and girls) there are VERY good people. Some are quite a pain in the ass, but still, decent enough. Others are just, as you said, plain rude. I am not to particularly keen on the bashing of a particular person or place myself. But hell, I'm guilty of it on more than 1 occasion!!! But, we are all entitled to our opinions. I will tell you don't buy a large item from Best Buy. Why, just some bad experiances with the company. The company as a whole? No, not nessicarily. Maybe just 1 person. It is just human nature to react in this manner. I am not above human, and neither are you. I'm quite sure you are guilty of something similar at some point in your life.

The bottom line is that this is a forum. It is a place where people come to voice their opinions, and they are entitled to. I personally will not close a thread if it is directed at a site. If it becomes a personal matter, a 1 on 1 cussing out I will intervene. At that point the opinion has just degenerated into a worthless jumble of personal insults and that goes beyond what should be deemed appropriate. I don't want our members hurting each other personally.

One thing that has to be kept in perspective is that these people complaining are also the same people that are going over there. They realize that it can be agood place to be. They however are like me, tired of voicing an opinion or a fact and getting slammed for it. I just don't want to deal with it, so I come here. Voicing an opinion like yours over there is just asking to be flamed. If you were to go over there and make statements like these, rest assured you would be flamed. Here, we are more diplomatic, and we don't know everything, so we accept criticizm better.

I suggest looking into the whole picture here. Realize that this is a fun place to be. We are all friendly, helpful, and respectful of the others who call this place home. Join us here, and instead of finding faults in the members opinions here, look at the good times and the friendly atmosphere.

And realize this: if we started closing all the CAF bashing threads, we'd also have to close your threads bashing our members opinions. You are entitled to your opinion here, so let the members express theirs as well.

I hope you understand that I am not trying to argue with you. All I want is for you to understand, we have fun here.

 

"CAF bashing threads" is one thing, myself asking why are you attacking CAF so much is nowhere near an insult, a bash, or an attack. If you cannot differentiate between the two, then I believe the lines separating freedom of speech and censorship are skewed...

I did look at the whole picture, hence my post. If I wasn't concerned with the issue, I wouldn't have posted on it, I would have just stopped posting here, because I don't find the mentality healthy. I suggest you reconsider your opinion, as I am not here to find faults in anyone, that is a title you placed upon me.

I am an active member of more forums than I can count. I participate in all of them that show they have merits and are worth participating in. I'm not really here to gain friends, just learn and to teach, if I have an opinion on something, I'll express it. I'm not out to start a war, just to state how I see things.
