i was thinking that i would have to run them at 1ohm but idk which one would work the best and would it change the spl or the sq for 1ohm or 2ohms....?

That set up will pound like crazy. I have 1 12 inch L7 and it shakes the car like crazy but its no where near its limit, it could use more power but I dont have the cash to buy a bigger amp. No big its in the wifes car anyway. As for 1 or 2 ohm thats a good question, when I went to a local high end shop to look for the clean sweep I told him how my system was setup, and he told me to rewire my subs to 2 ohm instead of 1 ohm. He said much better sq and very little power loss. Remember the rule is you have to double the power to get an increase of 3db. Not much difference, but 2 ohm might be easier on you electrical system. Im curious to see what eveyone else has to say on that one.
Hey CC did you get your sub and amps yet??

hold on lol, what happened to your budget? This combo seems a little off to me, the subs are only 600 watts rms and your amp is capable of pushing 1700 watts i think. Did your budget change?

ok, that's an awesome deal on the amp, get that for sure but the subs, i'd go with at least the kicker L7 subs they are rated at 750 watts rms i believe, you can get two dual 4 ohm subs and run that amp at 2 ohms. It will be sweet. The L5s are nice but they are a little weak and can't take much abuse. You should be able to find a deal on two L7s at around the same price.

oops, to run at 2 ohms you will need two 2 ohm dual voice coil subs.

an increase of 3 db is going to be twice as loud.so there is a diff there.

i think for the SQ thing.it has to deal with the amps ability to control the sub at lower loads(damping factor).most amps have better control on the sub at higher loads i.e 4 ohms.

it would depend on the amp.the higher the damping factor number the better.also it would be less strain on your elecrical at 2 ohm mono over 1 ohm mono.

case in point.i need to to something with my power situation now that i have 2 amps running 2 ohm mono since i added another sub.

before; i must have been just at the wires ability to supply the current needed to my amps.

i guess it changed a little but not really cuz iam still trying to stay at $500 or less and the combo that i posted was pushing that $500 price

well i liked the look of the 2008 L5s that i have posted and you said they are weak.... what is it that they did to the L7s that made them stronger and then the L5s

just the power rating L5 is 400 or 500 watts and the L7s are 750 watts rms. Will handle more power, i'm sure hifonics is a bit underated so it will probably push more than it says. The L5s i must have went through 4 or 5 of them, fried most, sold the rest lol. Go for the stroker and the hifonics it's the best deal i can find. The stroker is only $200-$220 then you can run that amp at 1 ohm. Dual 2 ohm subwoofer.
