Well the total surface area of the box (area of all sides added together) is approx. 7.79 sq yds

You could make it look sexy by counter sinking all the screws, fill them in with some MDF paste, sand it all down nice and smooth...and then paint the box with fleckstone paint...looks really nice.

Oh yeah and those cutouts are fine

what kinda paint is that? My friend said that i should use herkaliner stuff. where he works they do it all the time and says they really look nice. but i like the carpet idea.

if you can find a single piece of carpet big enough for that box than by all means go for it if you want carpet.

I am gonna do a few boxes in the future with bedliner...looks cool

well im pretty dang sure i wont run out of glue. i screwed up the order and got 4 cans of the stuff lol and i got 9 yards of carpet also i have to pretty much rip out everthing in my hatch for this to fit. i have to keep it all though because i plan on selling this vehicle. usually ive been throwing all the crap in the garbage.

Hm...lol so you gave me the wrong information?? lol its cool.

If you make the over box 2 inches shallower and reduce the port length 2 inches also it would be around 4.5 cubes tuned to ~38Hz

A lil peakier but the lows will be slightly softer but it will still be daily drivable and loud

it may be a lil louder...this is in your eclipse right??

are you still gettin an alero??

its my eclipse. im pretty sure i can sell this car because well a lot of people like it. but its just my friend dont have the alero yet. its in his girlfriends possession now but there broken web and hes not very aggressive about getting the car. What i ment really was as soon as my buddy gets his car back the sooner i will sell mine and the sooner i can get the alero. kinda confusing but whatever. i was thinking something like this: just to clarify because i have a very tight spot from the back of the hatch to where the subs will be

what if i went 2 inches back and 2 inches higher? would i lose anything then?

    some parameters would change

The net volume would be 5.2 cu ft and port length still 15 inches deep but 2 inches taller would be still tuned around 38Hz

the box would be a lil peaky but still have an F3 of 30Hz..which is fine...fire the subs up and port back would maybe be a lil louder. Try it...either way sub back port back vs. sub up port back this will be loud as fawk

ok i got my boards shortened. im not gonna do the 2in higher though. what is an F3? anyways all i gotta do is get the holes cut for the subs and then i can start putting it together. I put this box in my hatch without it all glued and stuff and this box is TIGHT AS FUDGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i took every plastic thing out of my trunk and its still tight. i guess my measurments were crap but it fits. this is gonna be sweet. also i got my carpet and glue today

how do i get the wood not to split on the edges? i got some 2.25in screws im doing some testing and the screw in the inside of the wood dont split but the screws on the edge splits. maybe drill the holes all the way down till almost the end?

You MUST PREDRILL the holes about the full length of the screw.

I always predrill and have never had any wood split on me
