I like for them to hit lows, but i really want them to hit highs and be loud. It will be a daily driver and i just want to out do some of my buddies hear at my school. One buddy has 3 audiobahn 10s and a 1200 watt amp.
pretty much any setup is. your friend should be prepared to get raped though. Alright so then could i also get the dimensions that I'll be working with? Do you prefer slot ports or round ports? Both achieve the exact same thing.
quick question? whats wrong with the amp and subs you have now? 2 15's have more cone area and should be louder than 2 12's.
now if you just want new subs i can understand as i have swapped out my subs 4 times this year.your amp should have enough power for the 12's you plan on getting. 600 each is their rms rating right?
oh ya good question pedro, does your friend with 3 10s beat out the system you have now? if so then i feel we should build you a new box for your bmfs. i've heard those subs in the 12" version off a 1000rms from a crossfire amp and i about **** myself.
O yea the 15s are louder then the 3 10s. I really want to get new subs so i can have a little more room so i wont be crouched up on the steering wheel. I prefer slot ports. I guess what im saying is that i want something a little smaller but still be as loud as my 15s.
well too be honest they may not be as loud. Those crossfires are awesome subs that dont disappoint. What size enclosure are they in now?
Quick question. Just wondering why the extra battery was suggested? This truck is a daily driver. I always thought that extra batteries were used when the vehicle was going to be playing the system for a long time with the engine off. Would it not be more of a strain on the alt trying to charge 2 batteries and play the system? Besides he probably has the same alt as I do, 130 amp stock, I have a 1500 watt Hifonics, a four channel amp, Jl Cleansweep, satellite radio, my sub amp is wired at 1 ohm with a Kragen battery and I get no dimming of lights at all. Does he have problems with powering his current system?
you're right on that one. I never said he needs an extra battery though. I just said 0ga and the big three. with a 130amp alternator, he should be fine.
Thats all I did as well, but can you explain how a 2nd battery would be a benifit and when are they usually used???
additional batteries are used to prevent the voltage drop from using one battery. Say with one battery your voltage drop is down to around 11.5 volts at full tilt and engine at idle...well adding a second battery can help keep the voltage up by providing more amperage...so after the additional battery the voltage drop is only down to say 12.5 volts or more. Yes the strain is increased but the only time there is really a big drain on the electrical system is at idle. Same thing with one battery say you have voltage drop at idle but after you gas it the voltage will jump up cuz of the alternator...well after gassing it the alt can still keep the both batteries charged.
true. ive said this before. i have a friend with a dodge neon and i just found out he has a stock alt and runs 5 or 6 batts in his system! i never knew that and he has a wall with 2 18's and 2 IA 20's 3900 watts in bass and 300 to 400 more for his mids and highs. he doesnt crank his system full on all the time and tells me he's had no probs at all. http://www.youtube.com/user/iamamp3pimp
give the big 3 a try first before you start spending money for something you may not need. i only have one batt and a 105 amp alt and around 1300 watts or more, and my lights do not dim.
Thanks man. Im not getting 12s. I measured today and i get a fit like a 6.5-7 cubid ft box so im gonna put my 15s in it and get another 1200 watt amp. Sry guys for wasting yalls time but yall helped me out alot. Im hoping with the new box and another amp, that these bad boys will knock.
