I'll die the interior black too, might as well do it nice, maybe some collector will offer me a zillion dollars some day lol.
silver looks very sharp on a volvo. i wish i had some pics of our old GL. silver with blue interior (seats). had some mesh aluminum rims on it with a rear garnish reflector on the rear that said volvo. it was a really nice car back in the day. wasn't quick at all though. yours is a 5 cylinder, right?
It's a 4 cylinder, going to give this a shot. It would be a shame to scrap this car, done up nice it could be worth some serious bucks. It will probably last longer than most other cars too lol. The lumina would be about $1700 with the work it needs plus i would have to go get it, 8 hour drive. So i think i'll pass on that.
make some extra money from the taurus. try to piece it out on ebay or something... do you still have the taurus?
No the taurus is gone, needed room to park the volvo. I did take all the switches from the doors, alternator, battery, mass air flow sensor, all the fuses and relays and the ignition coil pack. Will get a few bucks back.
Found a windshield, $125.00 wohoooooooooooo 1981 Volvo 240 / 260 GL --------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ya, it has a crack on the very left side, it's not in the drivers view, maybe i can get by without changing it for now. Might need to when i go get the safety. The install begins !! I am finally able to get the 1/0 gauge wire to go through the firewall. Was only able to get 4 gauge through with my taurus. Tommorow i'll set up the alarm. Not going to put my amp and box just yet but the wiring will be ready. Might have to leave the car overnight at a garage, i don't trust those situations lol. .
I forgot, i tested the compression yesterday and got 160 psi in all four cylinders wohoooo. Also i pulled each wire one at a time and the engine goes crazy each time so it's sparking and the fuel injectors are working and the engine is good... Must be a vacuum leak somewhere or a sensor out of whack. It feels like it's misfiring, shaking the car a little.
that's good news. so at least you know it won't be a big fix with regards to any engine problems. You had mentioned that the idle was rough. Is it rough with it just in DRIVE or even when it is in the PARK position? Did you change the tranny fluid yet? you should make sure you don't have any tranny problems before you drop money into it.
It shakes like crazy in the mornings until it warms up then smoothes out but can still feel it shaking a little. I found out that this is a volvo dl 260 by the vin number. It has kjet injection which is one of the first fuel injection cars. The injectors work by a vacuum or pressure from the engine. They don't require any voltage or wiring to work. Also it has cold start injection too, a little extra gas going in when it's cold. I think this may be why it runs like this. Will still check for vacuum leaks and other sensors maybe. The transmission was rebuilt about 6 years ago but it's been funky ever since. I think they put a part in there that was from another similar but not the same model. Crossing my fingers on that one, hope it doesn't crap out. Anyways the original owner says he wants it back after i fix it up lol bastard! So i'm not going to go crazy on this car. Will get it painted, get some nice rims, get it running nice and sell it back to him for like $2000.00 lol. I'll need money for another car and that's a lot of work and time that he would never do or get done.
