I wonder if you have to tune that low. Most boxes that I build are tuned between 40 to 45 Hz. I've never had an excursion problem. Why, because there is almost no music below that range.

My car is tuned around 38 Hz, my wife listens to Country Music, now we are getting rather low.

I have never tuned below 35, no need for it. Anyway thats my 10-cents worth

ok, Thanks, i'll shoot for 38-40hz, the sub has 29mm xmax so it should be fine. I don't think it was getting close to that anyways from 30-40hz.

Ok, i think i'll go with this, at 30 hz the excursion is at like 27mm and the sub has 29mm xmax, so it would need lower than 30hz to exceed it.

looks good to me...Box seems a little big though.

    What is the recommended size??

Ya, it's a little big lol but that what bassbox wants, if i go smaller then the ports get all funky and i've tried almost every way possible. So who do i trust? The makers of bassbox or cerwin vega lol. I will try and get it down in size a bit though. Cerwin Vega recommends 2.5 cubic feet for ported 12". What would be the worst can happen if it's too big? The excursion is not a problem at 4.0 cubic feet.

go too big and the bass response gets sloppy

lol, ya i'll be gentle with it. I'll be running my amp at 1 ohm so i don't want the amp to blow up now. How big is his box roughly? ported? Also does it hit hard like oh ya that's cool, or hard like holy crap! lol It's in new york, should be here soon. Hopefully they don't tack on duties.

he has it on a really small sealed box and it pounds hard like it puts out tight bass but it would pound harder if he went ported...he did a 145 with it with less than 2kwrms on the sealed box

Nice! Cool, i know what you mean, i want the bottom end to be more solid than tight, ported it is! 3.8 cubic feet tuned to 40hz i'm shooting for. Although designs may change without notice lol. I'll be pushing over 2k haha can i say 2k? 2k, 2k, 2k, 2k, haha whoppin time is getting nearer....

Well, i've been asking around, this is what i got from the orion forum: I think cooling and providing the amp with all the power it needs..These quotes are from different people:::::::Check out the last guy lol .25 ohm stable!

I asked for some info on another site, here's the quotes from different people.

If you are planning on using the / these 2100's for daily use...I would not recommend running them at 1 Ohm. Can they do it, sure for how long, well that will depend on:

    Cooling
    Power Supply
And your relationship with the man upstairs

Yes the amp can be run at 1ohm but that requires alot of current.

OK I read these manuals.....guess what? Only 1 Ohm stereo stable aka 2 Ohm mono stable as well. Catching a pattern here?

I am not saying it can't be done for SPL burps. Back before Orion was bought by Directed, I have had countless "Well what if I did this?" or "How about I set it up like this?" questions that I bounced off the tech support. Guess what NONE of them would tell me that it would be OK at 1 Ohm mono. But it is your amp, your repair bill if when it blows.

    New system under design:

    Pioneer Avic-N1
Pioneer AXM-P8000 (5.1 controller stupid that the AVIC needs this)
    Pioneer DEQ-P8000 (5.1 processor)
Pioneer CDX-P680 (6 Disc CD changer)
Pioneer XDV-P90 (6 Disc DVD changer)
    Pioneer GEX-P910XM (XM tuner)
Pioneer GEX-P6400TV (TV tuner don't ask why I just got it because it was available)
    Audiocontrol 6XS (3-way crossover)
    *Audiocontrol 6XS (3-way crossover)
AudioControl DQS (6 channel 30 band digital EQ)
Phoenix Gold Bass C.U.B.E. (may omit this piece)
    *4xOrion HCCA-10.4 (for subs)
    2xOrion HCCA-D5000's (sub amps)
2xOrion HCCA6s components (fronts and rears)
    1xOrion HP-4800 (front/rear MID amp)
*1xOrion HP-4800 (front/rear HIGH amp) Ordered should be here soon!!
1xOrion HCCA5s components (center, yes all 4 not just 2)
    1xOrion HP-2400 (center amp)
    2xMBQuart QM200 8" mid-bass driver (front bass/mid-bass)
1xHP-4600 (bridged to 2 channels for front bass/mid-bass)

    All in a 01 Saturn SC2

I ran that bad boy at 1ohm mono for about 2 years, and I had NO problems with it what-so-ever. I love that amp. It is a friggin beast, hands down the best amp I have EVER owned! If you have one keep it.

i've installed countless 2100 in past years and ran them at 2ohm mono load no problems, i've been told you can run these at 1 ohm mono load with an upgrade, what is the upgrade or have i been mislead?

i have run them at 1 ohm mono without problems

I also ran one in the past at 1 ohm with no problem, i had a second battery and a cap when i ran mine though.

just to let you know with 2 extra batteries and a 5 farad cap. you can make that amp .25 ohm ive had it set up that way pushing 4 orion xtr pro 15's

people use to run just one of those for a whole system. front, center ,rear fill, and subs.

i read one guy had 32 or so speakers in his car running at 1/2 ohm stereo. which is like running 1 ohm mono.thats a lot of crossovers eh?

man i wish i never got rid of my old car audio mags.
