the kicker L5 10 i have has poly fill in it.it's a kicker box.granted its for a truck.(sooo tiny)but it sounds great.deep and tight.sounds killer with jazz and country.DEEEEP.so then whats wrong with using poly fill?oh and im way underdriving with like 250-280watts 8ohms. mono.so then why not try a 10 or 2 8s.they sound awsome and need a teeny weeny box.mine is .88cu ft.that leave tons of space in the hatch.trust me i know.i go on trips with three dogs, and a 5yr old,(sub off)they stay in the hatch.so good luck with whatever u pick.

Smaller box - higher F3, peakier...polyfill is a bandaid for not having enough space

well it is a truck box.behind the seat type.it was made by kicker for that sub.so it has to be small.so in a bigger box it will have more output?but arent these subs made for small enclosers.

YUP AZN.. bandaid.. not a fix.. does help some, and in kicker's defense, there are usually SERIOUS space constraints with behind-the-seat sub enclosures.

like I said.. if you have the space, build it big and ported, and forget the polyfil. if you don't then go sealed, they won't take up that much room in a properly built and designed sealed enclosure.

oh, what the hell ill just build 2 boxes one of each. mdf is only 20$. as of now i think im leaning twards the 12 l7, and build both boxes as big as they need to be, witch is still smaller than the minimum air space for the 15. my last system was 2 15 fosgates hx2 in a cougar. ill be in a hachback this time and i hope i wont be disapointed cuz i still remember how my 15s pounded! do you guys think theres a big diffrence in a trunk and hachbak? 2 15s -1 12 if im making a mistake (in your oppinion) please let me know!

IMO 2 10's (bandpass) in a trunk sound like
    2 12's (ported) in a hatchback

hatchbacks are fantastic for back of your head noise, but bandpass in a trunk is great for neighborhood resonance..:D

    and nothing compares to 15's

    except 18's
    and 22's
    and 24's
    etc..

    With 3 cubes...depends on the driver...I'd lean toward the one 12 L7

he did say he wanted room in his hatch that is why i recomended a smaller encloser/sub.and no i have not seen any small boxes in spl contests.also no passenger space either.lol.i chose the small box for its size and output, but mostly size.

Well If he wants to keep some room than I'd say look for drivers that are actually designed for small sealed enclosures...like plug the numbers into WinISD and see what the response would look like.

with around 3 cubes...you can either go one ported 12 or on sealed 15...either way it's still gonna slam...I'd do the one 15 sealed

i think..no i know you will be happy with the 2 10s.i have 1 and am looking for a new box for it.to maximize its output.dont get me wrong.it slams now.i know it can do better in a slightly larger box.not wanting to thread jack, but is 100 to much for a custom box?nothing fancy.just a rectangular shape box.24x9x13.give or take.

Not sure...but for less than 100 bucks you can build yourself a box...and you wont have to go without a car cuz its in the shop...Plus its a good experience
