Thats my understanding Mike. So for that reason i'm kinda leaning towards trusting the buildhouse to deliver some quality. My understanding is Avionixx is making them. They sure look like Tsunami amps. I have no clue because these fuckers are anything BUT honest with me or the public, let's face it. Well, just like buying off eGay, theres the risk you'll get burnt on the warranty. People still shop eGay, hoping that the lesser price goods will work and last. I guess i'm torn between taking that chance... or asking for a refund, and having nowhere to turn. This is what i've explained above. Help me get some direction, and someone trustworthy to deal with, if you can, and i'll owe ya one.
1> VE is "avionixx" or Rather that is they "public Sale" brand, Similar to what RE and Desjtli are the same Company 2> Buying off Ebay and Buying from ED are Differant, In one case you KNOW the manufacturer will not honor the warrranty, in the other you have a Manufacturer Claiming to have a 3yr warranty but then tries everything they can to "back out" of the warranty.. I dont recommend Buying off Either, I have been in Car audio for a long long time, and have NEVER bought car audio from ebay and NEVER will, I have always found the SAME product at a Compairable (with in 10% or so) price from a Dealer (online or offiline) that I TRUST..
Well, you have a subwoofer. B) You could pick up a 400w subwoofer amp for cheap, numerous ways. And a front stage amp to produce anywhere from 50x2-100x2 for around the same price, if you don't want to run off head unit power... which isn't necessarily horrible, as you save up for the eventual front stage amp. Front speakers... I may be able to help you out there... again, one of numerous ways.
They HAVE to give you a refund. I wouldnt worry about that too much. If you want to ask for your receipt before asking for a refund I understand though. Ok so Small ported enclosure. 400watts or less. SQ with some authority. For as little as possible. Shiva may be out because they like a bit of airspace. I would look into the JL w3v2 or Infinity Perfect. I have had experience with both and they are both very nice subs. I personally favor the w3v2 though. A single ported 10w3v2 on 400watts is plenty loud. A 12 ported will likely fit your needs.
Yes, i do... and while i'm thrilled with it... it's not really great on space or good for a stealth installation by any means. It's pretty damn big bro! I kinda wanted to keep the seats in the Scion! lmao Also, i still want the DCTV enclosure, not only because you sold me on the design, but because i feel with a good 12" driver, it'll be better. (i may be wrong about it being better for my musical tastes, but i'm willing to own both anyways) I'm looking for those ways, besides buying Profile stuff. Had them on the HU and it was alright, but i do have an amp and once i added it, well, i'd never go back to HU power, thats for sure. It's a small amp but much better than it was before, and pretty much loud enough. The sub amp is going into thermal mode tho, trying to keep up, it's old and it's crap. What i have, i intended to upgrade to CDT components once i got the Scion. Now i'm even questioning CDT quality. (wtf.) I'm interested in anything you have to say, or any deals you know of. Front stage and HU really are'nt concerning me at the moment, that definitely does'nt mean i would'nt upgrade in a second for the right proposition. I sent you a PM and i hope to discuss it with you soon. And i have this stuff over here for you, should i just mail it? lmao
Thanks again to everyone for entertaining this thread, this long. Definite 400, not less. Yes, thats my understanding. It was something i looked at initially. It also has twice the power rating... 600w vs. the 300-400 for the 13Kv2 I'm looking to drive a sub with it's RMS. The reason i'm looking at 400wrms is because i have Geolemon's 6th order Isobaric Bandpass project which is 400wrms. Therefore, i'd like something that's ideal for swapping. The enclosure for the other sub (13kv2) isn't built yet, thankfully. Dual chamber, triple vent... not straight ported. The JL is prohibitively expensive. All their stuff is... for that reason alone, i'm not considering them. The Infinity is probably one of the best SQ subs around for it's price ($150 i believe) but i'm not quite sure it's what i'm after. I'd like a good blend of SQ and SPL Anyone know of any PG Titaniums (12" or 15") anywhere? I've heard good things about them, but they've been discontinued.
The w3v2 can be had on ebay for just over $100. I can recommend some good dealers that I have had great success with if you like. Now that I think of it I do have a Viper 400.2 that does 400w @ 4ohms when bridged if you are interested. PM me on it.
Well, i'll tell ya what... Jeremy was really nice on the phone, while i cancelled just now. I was told they'll mail me a check tomorrow. I could have recieved paypal, but i don't feel i should have to eat a 3% fee on this. So there ya have it. Too many ppl saying cancel, and too much stomach turning on my part, to just ignore it all. @ fugyaself... I will talk to you on that.
Cool, I am glad you got everything taken care of. I personally feel you made the right choice. Now we just have to find you a replacement
I made a civilized post over at ICIX about the whole situation and I think eD blew a chance to get some much needed positive PR. We have all read how other companies have replaced products that were broken via abuse and as a result retained some lifetime customers and got some good press to boot. As a result of eD refuising to replace 2 mids, they lost 100s and maybe 1000s of dollars in sales. People read these threads and it stays in their minds. I know I won't ever be buying eD products based on situations like this. I am no business guru, but I know that smaller, private companies sometimes need to swallow their pride and make the customer happy. It really should be thought of as an investment in their customer base. Keep in mind that if a given customer keeps abusing some speakers, for instance, and keeps returning them for warranty replacement, then the manufacturer has to draw the line. But don't draw the line for someone who has bought from you before and was even shafted on those transactions. I think eD let their egos get in the way of retaining a customer and getting some good press.
Yes, i already read your reply there. I'll not be saying too much of anything there till i get my money back, for obvious reasons. If it get's here in timely fashion, and if the check don't bounce, hey, i'll give em credit for that. As for eD... that whole little stunt Milne pulled on Poseur, whoever was to blame for the speakers, that does'nt even matter. The manner in which it was treated, and the way certain eD reps acted, the deletions, the unexplained pictures, along with everything else... They lost me as a customer. Entirely.
Basically that is what bugs me the most - this is just one of several instances I have read/heard about eD treating customers poorly. It's like they are 100% interested in getting product shipped and then forgetting about it afterward if and when problems arise. And in car audio, problems ARE going to happen after the sale - that is a given. Another thing that kind of bugged me was that eD showed some pics of their nine.1 and then said "don't ask when they will be available". I'd be pretty peeved if I couldn't even get a hint as to when something I pre-ordered would be ready.
Gonz, please don't confuse WRMS with required wattage. The drivers in the enclosure you bought from Chris is rated above and beyond 400WRMS total, but the enclosure dictates that you use 400WRMS. Adire does not fudge their thermal rating at all. If it says 600WRMS we are talking at the most, the driver can handle 600 watts continuously for music, provided all the criteria are met. 300 watts in 1.25 to 1.5 feet sealed or 2 to 2.5 ported down low will equal the drivers mechanical powerhandleing, plus you are not heating the shit out of the coils. That equates to a longer lifespan of the driver, reduced thermal compression, and overall a more stable driver. The Shiva will be $125, no shipping if you shop at the right places. Also, if you know the right people and whisper sweet nothings in their ear, you may be able to get a discount... or maybe they have a couple used Shivas laying around they may think about letting go... Or maybe not... They may have to think about that <_< . Actually, come to think of it, Chris, does Nate want to sell any of his Shivas? I know that he had mentioned the possibility to me a while back, but I haven't seen him around in a long time. So who knows Gonz, there may be a Shiva or 2 in your forseeable future.
I love the treatment you're getting over there. That goes for anyone who... not even taking sides... just merely speaking with a reasonable mind about the issues left unanswered/unexplained. I've really never seen the terms "fanboy" and "sheep" illustrated in better fashion. I asked via "contacting eD directly" .... which that in itself has been pissing me off for a few months now... what the status of my order is... and Jeremy replied: Direct NO-BS quote- (actually from Jeremy) yeah, they'll tell you... but i feel their forum should have weekly updates on the situation. Keep us in the "loop"... is that so hard? so awful? To let us know whats going on, while our funds are tied up waiting? this is really quite a bummer. i'm not happy about it. i feel bad that Poseur got treated this way most of all. i'm lucky it was'nt me, but i'm sorry it was anyone.
Seth, here's where my head is at right now.... I'm hoping to sit down with Geolemon and hash out pros/cons and see where we end up. I'm sure we'll discuss both drivers and amperage. I'm going to depend on him to help me make an educated decision, because i've never met anyone quite so helpfull before. He's also the guy i chose for my enclosure, for the same reasons. I have to work some things on my end because it looks like i'll be needing more money... And i'll be waiting for the eD check to bounce clear. Any and all suggestions from you folks will be seriously considered. Seriously. Please PM me, or email me, whatever, if you have ideas, used stuff, etc. I'm wide open for ideas and i appreciate your help, through all of this. Please don't hesitate to let me know about this. The woman sits up front anyhow, we don't need rear seats! Thanks again guys.
The viper amp would be a good amp, I'm sure. A W3V2 unauthorized wouldn't be a good deal, IMO. For the same money, you could have a Shiva, authorized. And again... if customer service and warranty are even a small concern... it's a matter of "none, absolutely" vs. "full warranty authorized". Not that the W3V2 isn't a good woofer. The dual-chamber tri-vent boxes do need to be rather large to begin with... so you are talking about an enclosure that usually starts at around 3 cu.ft... more a function of the logistics of fitting the three ports in the enclosure - theoretically, they could be smaller, if it weren't for that. That's one reason that they are more "generic" suitable in application than other enclosures, pretty much any 12" that is suitable in a ported enclosure will work in a 12" enclosure that's 3 cu.ft... not so true when you are talking about fitting subs into boxes on the small end of the spectrum.
Yes, but height and width i have to work with, should allow a DCTV to fit in the xB's "cargo area" behind the seat. As would the bandpass, i'm hoping Right now it's just a little inconvienient because i can't stand it up... and with the amp rack... i have lost use of everything but the front seats lmao The DCTV should be a little more space-friendly depth-wise than the bandpass tho, would'nt you think? Remember how we loaded the box into the back? That's how it stayed.
Geo is right. If you feel the need for a warranty I would definately just get the Shiva. But with a great guy like Geo there to overlook your install and give advice you may never need one And I found the JBL 180.2 on sale at SD for him. http://www.cardomain.com/sku/JBLP1802 A little less power but cheaper than I am willing to sell the Viper Plus full warranty. Since price is one of his big issues it should work better. Plus with the efficiency of the dual chamber it should be fine.
If it comes down to not wnating to spend tomuch and all, I'd just buy a freaking pyle setup or something you'd likely get better support than with eD, atleast you wouldn't have all of eD's minions cutting into every bit of your being. I've been bombarded with IM's etc since this, but in the end MY whole point of posting was to inform you, the potential customer... In the end you're a big kid, make your own decisions, I've posted and said what I have to say for the most part, you can make up your mind based on what you've seen. I for one am shocked that you're evne still considering it a valid option. heck you could pick up a fairly decent ID driver for similar money. as for amps, there's TONS of 400w amps out there, many of them will do you jsut fine. The eD amps are manufactured by avionixxx who made Tsunami as well and for the record BOTH of my tsunami's have sofar required being sent in for service.
