For what it's worth, I've gotten messages from 5 people sofar who have thanked me for making my concerns public, and cancelled existing orders. and about 3 ppl who weren't ready to order just yeat, and this incidednt was enough to back them off. $40 vs 8 multi-piece orders??? and this is only in a couple of hours. and only the ones who told me about it. I'm really not the biggest one to complain, and again, perhaps I jumped the gun a bit, but I'm just tired of having to defend eD, the eDi's was sort of their "last chance" in my book, and THEY DIDN'T EVEN SOUND ALL THAT GOOD... I had no idea they were going to blow so hugely, and from all of the precutious I took, it still boggles my mind. I'm also a pretty regular haunter of the caraudio section over at protege5.com which is actually a very knowledgeable community as well. That's mostly my regular haunt as it were. Unfortunately I've steered many of that crew the ways of eD, if I could take it back I would. Thatsaid, I still enjoy my 12a and will likely keep it for quite awhile after having built a fiberglass box for it. I just hope nothing ever goes wrong with it.
Soooo, are you looking for new comps? What did you pay for the eDIs? Maybe I can change your brand selection
oh, and I paid by check card form my back. It's a visa certified thing, but I'm not really sure it counts for anything I heared of others before with the same kind of deal and their check card did not count. I would certainly love to get my money back, or atleast a functioning speaker set, but at this point I'm just done, v'e had it, I'm fed up, screw it, I said what I said and knew that in doing so I likely torched any of my chances of this getting taken care of. Do I fell better having done so? not at al, I really honestly wish none of this happened, I'd likely be happily driving around listening right now...
Looking for new comps, always, I've had a fetish with listening and take a demo disc with me wherever I go incase Ihappen to stumble upon a new shop and have a chance to listen to something different. SOudns I like: Boston Pro's and Focal K2p's. I'm also not entirely offended by JL VR's and I've heared Kodas I've liked but it was a non-objective kind of thing just is some dude's car. I'm actually in WA, and my cousin lives down the street from Audire so I'm hoping to perhaps drop by there sometime. the eDi's I got on their preorder thing forlike $220ish so fortunately I'm not out toomuch with the deal. I'm actually kind of pondering jsut for the sake of keeping things affordable that I may just get some mids and use my still functioning CDT xovers and tweeters. Anyone know bychance howmuch it will effect thigns if I mix'n match?
90% of debit card offer the same fraud protection now days, a few years ago this was not the case (I still advise against using Debit Cards for onling Purchases regaurdless with credit your not playing with your "bill" money if someone steals your card number ) contact your bank
That would absolutely work, and is a fun way to do things. No joke - my best sounding system ever was a conglomeration - SoundStream Exact series component set crossovers, Peerless tweeters, Vifa-made Parts Express house-brand speakers. Doesn't sound glamorous, but those SS Xovers were a real nice unit, the Peerless tweeters were very nice, and the PE mids were overacheivers. And very affordible. What you will run into as issues: Efficiency mismatch. You may have enough adjustment in the Xover, attenuation for the tweeter, to match your new mids without an issue. It's really no big thing if you can't quite, you can build what's known as an L-pad very cheaply (it's just two resistors), to attenuate whatever isn't quite in line. I think this might be your best bet, unless it's the tweets that were really "ho hum". Lots of places out there to pick up good 4 ohm mid/midbass drivers at, for relatively little money (even as low as $15 each). B)
nope I loved the tweets actually ver impressive, the only thing of the set taht really floored me as a matter of fact, so hopefully I'll be set here...
Which is another reason why I can't wait til you guys get BA going. It's having people like you backing your products that keeps people coming back. Having awesome customer service is something you just can't fuck with. Not, OH......... well.......... It looks like your mids are junk, sucks to be you. And I agree 100% about your "damage control." You can either lose $100 to replace somebody elses mistake, which in turn will bring you in alot more than that thanks to that customer recommending others to buy your stuff. Or, you can decide to keep your $100, and lose potentially thousands of dollars cuz now you have the same guy who is doing everything he can to keep people from buying your product. I can guaran...damn....tee. that when it comes to buying my next sub, it will either be something from you, or something from the likes of Seth. Why? Cuz you two don't give people the run around when something does go wrong. And if I have any problems or questions, that you two will answer or help in anyway you can. Not trying to sound like an ass kisser here but, I'm sure most of you know what I'm talking about.
If you guys actually had any idea how cheap it really is to recone a little mid like that, you would be even more disgusted then you already are  . You say $100 for customer satisfaction? How about less than 10% of that.
That's a damn shame then, because theres alot of damage done over $10-$20 worth of parts. If five people who have ordered the combo i did, cancel over this... just five people... that equals $1225.00 ! Milne has "left the building", the thread is all but deleted, of course locked again, and Poseur is left hanging as eD's latest victim.... "locked out" of the eD forums as well. "Damage Control" was an excellent choice of words Mike... I'm pretty sure, actually it's obvious, that i'm not the only person who's heart has changed considerably over this public display of .... unprofessionalism? jeez, thats at best... i don't know how to describe it better. I'm still waiting for a reply to my "TICKET" regarding my order. Not too long now... before i'll be speaking directly to my bank manager and postmaster general regarding deception/lack of delivery/lack of communication/fraud.
Yeah but supposedly the coil was implanted into the motor making them useless. At least thats what I read in that thread. Didnt really notice it in the pictures but i was too amazed at how much of that coil came off to look. I really would not be surprised if the coil they are using is using crappy/not enough glue.
I'm honestly thinking those are'nt Poseur's speakers at all. I think they are pics of a set of prototype or test mids which were sent power till they popped. Another guy at ICIX who goes by the name "ThePoser" is running the same amp, the same comps, full range, with the 220wt RMS from bridged mode... no issues, but he hears them bottom out sometimes. Again i say and ask... (and i wish i could get some actual ratings on that Tsunami) But generally a class A/B amp is 70% efficient at best, correct? I wish i knew what voltage that 220w RMS spec is rated at, but i'm betting 14.4vdc .... He was using crossovers, playing non-rap music, and sending a maximum line signal of about 6v w/vol. control at 70-80 with, i believe he stated, the car Not running. He also stated the gain was set way low. This leads to the following fact... No chance of him getting more than 150 watts.... under those conditions. Unfortunately i don't know the actual formulas here but it would be all speculative anyhow. If someone could prove/explain to me otherwise, like where my logic is flawed... i'd really like to learn from this myself. Obviously i'm not really well versed here, but this seemingly goes along with everything i've read thus far. Has anyone ever seen an amplifier spike like mad and send 500 watts suddenly? Poseur ran Infinity Kappas on this amp, i believe both before as well as after the incident... Now if Kappas can take "the heat" i would think, or hope, that these "CDT made - eD components" would be able to hold up much better. Maybe nobody gives a damn and i should just stop posting already.
The mature and responsible post from Ben, and the only one left on the thread... Way to edit and great CS guys. Is it just me or does anyone else see something funny about these "blown coils" due to abuse? The formers are not burned and the anodizing still looks fresh to me. It really doesn't appear to have been abused IMHO
Thats what I was thinking. The former is disformed but it doesnt appear to be from heat. The coil, while hard to see, also appears to be in good color. I still do not see how that much of the coil came off though. Bad glue or not enough glue is the only thing I can see causing that burnt or unburnt. I havent dealt with a ton of blown drivers or the raw materials. Maybe geo or someone else has some insight there.
Yes, i agree with you, no signs of burning/melting IMO but i'm not an expert. Are you suggesting/thinking that these were just "ripped apart" then mangled? Or perhaps "blown apart" with some amazing burst of power? Here's whats going on with my situation, I sent them the following to see what would happen... I dont suppose my personal details are relevent here. Anyways, this was their response and how it stands: And so it stands. Hmm... So i got a reply, but no reciept. Two weeks on speaker and three for the amp. So i'll just assume September at least. Should i hold out at this point? This is my dilemma, IF the products are as pleasing as my friend's e15a then i'd be happy. The amp isn't made by eD so it might be decent, fair specs for the price. Getting the cash back would leave me in a position where i'd probably/possibly end up with lesser products. I mean, what can i really accomplish with $245? I'm open for suggestions. Either way, i'm trying to obtain a reciept for this purchase, to prove they did recieve my money, and are admitting to it. I can prove it otherwise, but i'll take all the evidence i can get, should i need to persue this as fraudulent. Once i have the reciept, i can either cancel or carry on waiting and hope for a decent product. Obviously at this point, i'll just completely forget about sales support, or ever doing this again.
I personally will never deal with ED again. You have more trust in them than me. Nor would I purchase their amps because I have had a few poor experiences with my Tsunami amps. While it is a new design and supposed to be a lot better I still remember hearing that the Tsunami amps were supposed to rival the Directed and Cadence area of amps. Yeah, sure thing buddy. Personally I would go with a Shiva ($125) and a 2 channel amp bridged. Or a 4channel amp bridged with each coil running on its own channel. It will be a bit more expensive than the preorder deal but you could get like 600watts for around $200. So that will be $325 ish. Personally I would rather spend that extra $75 than to deal with ED. Plus their equipment really isnt that good IMO. They are cheap products at a cheap price.
ED does not make anything.. Nor do alot of companies ED amps were made by VE but now they have a thing with TRU, so I dont know who is making them.. If I were you I would Cancell.... With as much differant products out there, Customer Service is EVERYTHING, if you can not provide it, why support them???
Thanks for the opinions, i appreciate the ideas as well as the discussion. No, i have about zero trust or faith in them at this point brother... However, that also extends to me getting a refund willingly. As far as product is concerned... Let me explain my thinking to you and see what you think and where you can direct me product-wise. I'm installing to a Tracker right now, and a Scion Xb hopefully in the spring. There are three main issues are dictating what i can do. One, i don't want power consumption issues, or even concerns, for a stock electrical system. I'm trying to get loud with efficiency, thus lesser wattage and lesser amperage. 600wt RMS to one driver, in this case the sub... would probably be too much considering i'm only getting around 45-50wt per channel to the front stage. I figured 400 to be about perfect, more than enough, and the 460x1 @4ohm i figured to be just the right amount of headroom. (plan to move to 100-150wpc for fronts in my next vehicle). I think i can handle this on stock charging without any issues. Two, is the enclosure size, based the Kv2 specs. Space concerns, along with power requirements make this driver a nice candidate for my purpose. SQ is a bit more important than SPL but i don't wish to go sealed either. I'm not a "rap" guy so the obnoxious booming isn't exactly my end goal. Third is theft and budget. I can't really afford or justify putting alot of money into a vehicle thats left unprotected at all times... in the ghetto. It's always parked on the street and in some cases, a considerable distance from myself. While i wish people would treat others as they wish to be treated, i definitely know scumbags would'nt think twice about ripping me off. I don't want the amount to be for $1000 worth of shit. I guess i'm getting close to $600 - $700 invested at this point anyways. I saw internal pics of the eD amps and i liked what i saw build-wise. But i'd rather get a Cadence, no question, based on what i've heard about them. I'm not sure where to shop for one tho... And basically every amp i've considered has been 400x1 and it's hard to find a nice price on that, much less 600x1. I'm not willing to deal with anyone local (besides Geolemon) I'm also thinking about Better Audio, and moving over to their products as soon as possible. But i have no dollar figures or timeframes, so i'm not even sure i'll be able to manage that. If he came out and told me November, i'd just sit tight. I'm a pretty patient individual, i'm fine with waiting months, it's just that in the situation i'm in right now, i'm feeling like i'm bent over a desk patiently waiting for rear entry? AND paying for the privledge! $100 for a sub and $150 for an amp to drive it, that is something i'm comfortable with... but beyond that? I'm not really interested in donating that kind of gear to crackheads and pawnshops, so no... i don't think i'd do it. I'm guessing a Shiva would be about $150 shipped and the Cadence Q4000 60x4@4ohm is about $235 or so shipped... thats a bit more than $75 difference, twice that actually... and i will lose some aspects of specifications like box size and a few watts. The Cadence z4000 which i feel would be a better candidate to drive the Shiva- is about $100 more for only 15wpc extra lol sorry im so damn long winded.
