It would be hard to prove or disprove something like that unless you saw the mids opened up for yourself, right? I am no vet when it comes to car audio, but what they say you did to the mids based on what you were feeding them seems very unlikely. Maybe someone can add some insight to this.

Thankfully i'm not the only one thinking it's absurd!

Poseur, you said they sounded "ho-hum" when you first played them...
any indication that "ho-hum" actually means "no good" as in, screwed up?

I've never blown any speaker neither, and since i never paid any attention really... it's surprising. I spent years beating the hell out of low end crap with not a single failure!

Clipping? You betcha! I thought gain = volume. Not really did i believe that, but i did'nt care if i blew something, it was all junk anyways.

Now that i finally put some money into something decent, something i'd actually care about... i can expect it to disintegrate. For no reason that can be explained. That's wonderful.

well perhaps, I hear good thigns being said, but I'm also a speaker-whore. I made the mistake of carrying demo-discs with me wherever I go, so everytime I find a new stereoshop somewhere I go listen to speakers... By ho hum I mean they were good, but just a bit bland, no real punch to them. Very similar to JL VR's if you've listened to many components... Thatsaid, I consider JL's kind of an easy refrence, mostly because they're fairly affordable and alot of places have them on their board, and overall I mostly like their sound. JUst when you start playing them up against some Bostons or Focals, I feel they just kinda sound plain... which is nto entirely bad mindyou.

At anyrate compared to what I've heared these compared to and such I'd honestly expected a bit more. Perhasp it could've been a sign of something wrong.

Melted coils from 200 watts? Right.

If the coil slammed the backplate that hard, it was a serious overexcursion, which is possible in 1 of 3 ways. Unloading in a ported enclosure... I doubt it was a ported enclosure ;) , extreme overpowering (which I simply don't see), or mechanical failure... from cheap parts.

    The overcharging is simply unacceptable.

His behavior towards you, particularly since yours is the first of anything I have heard about the ED comps is simply mindblowing. "They failed, you got overcharged, you got too little product, oh well... your loss". What? Really? Holy cow man... what a joke. "I got some ocean front property in Arizona"... I hear the radio at the shop droning that all the time, I had no idea Ben Milne was a country singer  .

Welcome aboard by the way. We do have a couple eD reps who hang out here. I do want it to be known that both are welcome here, and do not deserve to be harassed. They are my friends, and are simply supporting the products that they believe in. Please treat them fairly and with respect, even though you feel you have been wronged by the company they represent. They have no say so in what happens, so please remember that.

    Thanks

Thanks for another vote of confidence.

I gotta get out of this, before i get $2 worth of shit in a $5 box for the astoundingly great pre-order price of $245, and 8 months wait.

Honestly, with all I've said, I have great issue with the eDi's as well as the way that I've been handled. Yes perhaps I jumped the gun, but I wasn't about dicking around and paying and then waiting for another week to get things solved that I was initially told would be a 2day turnaround MAX. I still do appreciate my 12a, I just hope it never breaks.

sandt> thanks, and yea don't worry I can play nice, generally do, prettymuch just don't intend to really recommend anyone subject themselves to this kind of treatment. And to their credit, I just now recieved a box of what looks to be 20' of edead.. never told me it was coming, and I'da told them not to bother anyway. but hey it's here now.

Cool bud. I just know those guys are taking alot of heat around the other forums, and I don't want it to get ugly, particularly on a personal level, here.

With all that out of the way I certainly hope you will join us more often. We are always in search of new unhappy eD owners :p ... adds a little spice to our flaming of eD here.

And Gonz... Killer avatar man... well notice I said killer and not Killers :) . Killers is likely the best album cover ever... even if it was with Paul Dianno. That is one of my 6 year old's favorite albums (Number that is). He likes "Alexander the Great" and "Run to the Hills" best. His very favorite album is AC/DC Back in Black B) .

I would'nt have invited Poseur if i thought he'd hammer the guys here.
We all know where Chad and the others stand... and i dunno, they probably won't stand there for long, with this type of stuff going on.

MediaPlay has a DVD your son would love, and it's cheap too. AC/DC Live at Donnington Castle. It's kid-safe viewing, and a pretty good concert, actually a great DVD as far as concert films go. The show is from '91 so they open with Thunderstruck, and go thru just about every hit they've had, incl. back in black. Good stuff for under $20, less than $15 IIRC.

Maiden's covers, along with Megadeth's, are some of the best cover art designs i've seen. I'm not a huge fan of Maiden, but Megadeth is another story. Mustaine is just simply awesome.

    ROFL, Right

Lets Get JD from DEI, Polecat from Kicker, or manville from JL over here and see how many Blown Coils that replace on a Given DAY...

I know for a FACT Kicker Does regularly, unless the customer send subs back all the time.....

I Know Geo has For BE Customers and they only had PROTOTYPES.....

it is all CUSTOMER SERVICE, something ED need to learn, or RELEARN

I am not going to read the 14 pages of a Baised Elemental Owned Forum (kind of under handed if you ask me to Start a Forum for you company but call is something elese to make it look like it is owned by a Thrid Party  ) but if the info posted here is accruate, and I am sure it is

1> ED is required by LAW to warranty the product, From fugyaself post and Specs posted on ED web site is clear Power was not a Issues. so the warranty has to be Honored BY LAW

2> If you paid with a Credit Card, Contact your Card company ASAP, and Start the Charge Back Process.. Tell them the Full Story and how they refuse to honor the 3 year warranty. this will not only Remove the Charge from your account but cost ED at Minmum $25, and possible the loss of there Merchant Privalgies if other customers have complained as well ;)

I did tell him (Poseur) this. IMO this whole situ is FUBAR anyways, time to dispute charges. He sent the comps back via USPS so he has proof of the item's return.

Woah Mikey do not get me wrong. I am just saying its a common policy and to be honest its been a known ED policy. Unless its a shop doing the install/sale its just not common for companies to warranty a melted coil. Geo is a great guy and has a better business sense than ED. Its as simple as that. Its whats got me on edge waiting for Better Audio to get off the ground. But it will be tough when they do since I have RE right down the street.

ED does not go that extra mile to please their customers. They did at one point or at least had a better illusion of doing so. Too many people are dwelling in this past though.

but the small the company the MORE they HAVE TO go out of the way to help, too much competition

as far as RE goes... LOL, no comptition there IMO, ofcourse the way seth feels about ED is the way I feel about RE so.......

I think it is clear that eD does not HAVE to replace these mids based on what they CLAIM happened, but it seems like good practice to go ahead and do so, especially since poseur is a repeat customer, they jerked him around on other orders and because it is good business practice. Ant from Second Skin told me how he quickly replaced product a couple of times (out of the 1000s of orders he has filled) that "failed" when he was pretty sure it was user error. In the grand scheme, you lose some money doing that, but likely retain a customer and get additional customer referrals. I am sure at this point poseur won't be buying eD again, nor recommending them to anyone. That can add up to 1000s of dollars in lost sales. Some companies just don't seem very interested in retaining long-term customers, which is mind boggling. When I am treated right, I continue to give a company my money - plain and simple. If not, then I take my money elsewhere, just like Michael said before.

I understand that to the fullest. Apparently ED thinks they have grown to the point where they feel that isnt the case any more though. But then why is there a need for preordering? :bye:

And we all know your opinion of RE/destjil. But if something happens were I am upset I could just set their warehouse on fire. j/k ;)

Ever since the Flat cones (which I personally thought was a GREAT idea) I have seen CS go down down down....

Personally I feel it is combo of Poor Money Managment, and Growing Too Fast that has led to what (if they dont get their shit together) will be the end of ED

    Welcome to the forums! B)

My only thought is that you are a much more forgiving, much more patient man than I:
I got screwed once - one mistake - by my former bank, and in response, I closed out my credit card, savings account, checking account, car loan, and student loan, establishing them at another bank, and haven't exactly said kind words about that bank to anyone that I know that uses it.

So, the first time that I would have had a problem like that... :p
There wouldn't have been an opportunity for a second or third.

I commend you for your faith, even though it just got you into more trouble.

Heh... maybe he used Eddie for the arriving eDi's? Eddie? Edi?
    Ah, :bag: bad pun.

Anyway, "Run to the hills" and "Number of the beast" are my two faves. B)

    I agree with this completely.

I can understand how Ben is objectively 'by the rules' correct, here.

Melted coils... if not due to a driver defect, very often isn't covered by warranty.

But - a very publicized "I'm right... no I'm right.. no, I'm right!" battle on a public forum looks bad for either Elemental, or Poseur, depending on your own personal interpretation... and most people intuitively want to side with the little guy, since that's who they can relate to. So, most people are going to read this and think poorly of Elemental.
And even those who do read it and believe Elemetal was in the right, still will likely think poorly of Elemental for dragging the issue through the mud.

It would have been much less expensive to replace the mids the moment the complaints became public.

You can't put a price tag on the value of satisfied customers... particularly on the forums. I'm counting on them when we get off the ground to help promote our products.
And, I think that as positively helpful as satisfied customers are, customers who feel slighted or disrespective can be twice as harmful as they could have been helpful... "damage control" should have been in effect the first day Poseur posted his complaint, IMO.

    But that's my own opinion.
Squeaky wheel gets the grease... not a 14 page dissertation on why the squeaky wheel shouldn't get any grease.
