ok, i'll keep trying, if i go bigger then the port is too long maybe i should up the tuning a bit. Ranger, i need your help pretty please! lol Can you check to see if i entered the specs right, i think i have it right now. The specs i got online for this sub i guess should go under series connection and then i go from there and cut some specs in half for parallel. Is this how the manufacturer puts out specs measured in series for dvc?

    tune it straight to 40Hz.

Making a slot port is easier for more port area....with that sub you are gonna need it

ahhh, this is better, i think! I can't get it to peak at 40 hz but this is close enough. What do you think? Adire Audio Brahma 15"

Looks good...there is no need to try to get it to "peak" at 40...normally a box will peak higher than its tuning

Sweet thanks! Is this ok to run on my amp? Will be wired in series and bridged, so my amp will be running 1.3 ohms each channel mono?

    - Each voice coil is 1.3 Ohms; series connection would be 2.6 Ohms

yeah it'd be perfectly fine...as long as you don't go UNDER 1 ohm per channel

hmmm, looking through an ebay seller's ported subwoofer enclosures, it seems to me that 32hz is the magic number for port tuning for maximium SQL, all the higher end boxes seem to be tuned to that irregardless of the size of box. Does this info sound right? I copied it from his site.

    Slot-Port Tuned @ 32Hz for MAXIMUM "SQL"!

    Slot-Port Tuned @ 35Hz for MAXIMUM "SQL"!

Port Tuned @ 38Hz (Gets LOUD while retaining sound quality!)

You go info from EBAY...are you serious??

There is more to tuning than just plugging in 32Hz for SQL!!!!!

    That is a sales gimmick

Do you really believe capacitors "give your amp the power it needs"!!!!

Capacitors kick ass! Without them you would have nothing left in the world! It would be a desolate ghost town. People would have to live underground.

Is there a way to match the tuning of the port to match a specific speaker, like if the subwoofer's FS free air resonance is say 27 then you should add about 5 to 7 that number to get port frequency that will work with the sub. How would you know besides what the manufacturer suggests for a box and tuning.

I'm gonna hook up about 40 of them in parallel to run the orion in my trunk!

I still have 16 of those onkyo tweeters, was going to hook them all together, guess i'll sell them back on ebay.

Port tuning doesn't have anything to do with the Fs of the woofer.

Tuning just for the sound desired...I like 40Hz cuz Ranger got me hooked on it...good bump and still has pretty good lows.

You can tune it to anything you want though. I like 40Hz cuz it is a good compromise...the port length doesn't have to be super long like for low tuning

I think i'm going to go with this, it's smaller but still hits pretty good. i need some trunk space leftover. Looks ok?
