If its going into a camaro either face the box towards the back or face the subs up...ideally you want the ports on the same plane as the woofers

so say if i face the subs up then do i put the port right between them and how far does the port go down into the box 21hx40wx21d i thought it was like 3/4 of the way down then the other piece goes half way across the magnet. the memphis site says the port needs to b 12.5x2x19 but hows that going to work with the other specs

Are these two 12-inch speakers? If so, we have an effective cone area of around 160 sq in. (I'm estimating). The port has a cross sectional area of 25 sq in, which means that the cross sectional area is 15% of effective cone area. Vent Velocity should be OK. (but I would not go any smaller on the vent).

Now the port can go any where, but the best place is always the same board the speakers are mounted to. And that is where your port needs to go. Also the port should be straight. You can put a turn in a port, but do not add the length of the turn into the total length of the port.

Now, my suggestion, if you want to put a box in the hatch area in the back of the Camaro, is use one 12-inch woofer in a ported box. You will have enough airspace for the one woofer and it should work great.

    My 3-cents

yes it is two of them. i get what you said in your first paragraph kinda tough understanding ur second one about how a port can have a turn to it?

now i went into that site put in what speaker but what the hek is the xmax and im not really sure what the tuning frequency should be.

He meant the port can really be on any side of the box but the best and ideal side for the port is to be on the baffle board that the sub(s) is/are on

Xmax is normally measured in maximun one way linear excursion...basically how far the cone can move from center without becoming nonlinear and distorting...I think lol

well its 6. i found the tuning frequency for these subs and typed it into the calculator and says i need at least 63.72 inches to ahve a square port so i got way more then that

it says lenght for a side for a square vent7.98 inches so pretty much 8.

well then i guess i got the port done it says 8.6h x 8.6w x 8d is the size of the port

I'd be easier to make a slot vent and would add to the box's structural integrity if the vent was the height of the inside of the box and however wide you want

would it sound good and the memphis site says that it should b 12.5x6x16

Eh...Tune that bitch around 35-40...or you can download WinISD and custom design your on box to however you want it to sound...its a free program

dude...its free air mounted on the inside of the bumper hard wired to the alternator...all of this is implemented to reduce the standing waves and so the sub sees straight DC voltage so he can hit about 150 DBs.

Excellent, exactly how it should be done!!!!!! but be sure to put a slice of bread in front of the bumper to break up standing waves, and if you toast it, and put ky jelly on it, the refractions will cause an acho effect that will gain you 541 dB at 49.425 Hz. but the mic has to be at ear level in the gas tank, with exactly 3 .94357 gallons of bio-diesel in it.

dont believe me? try it!!!! LOLOLOLOLO!!!!     :p :p  :D :D :D :D

we are just jaclkassin around!!!!!!!!! sorry man! anyway back on the subject here....

If you are removing the back seat, why not just build a wall? that would yeild some great benefits if your up to it!!!!

Otherwise, pointing the woofers up, in the middle of the car basically will cause a few things to happen, constructive and destructive wave forms. some of the sound will reverberate from the back, and at some frequencies, you will get phase cancellation, at other freqs. you will get a nice amount of gain.....a tricky and impossible thing to deal with. But, you might actually like how it sounds, never know, Firing the subs forward will give a tighter more rrealistic sound with far less phasing issues. Just my 5 cents on the subject

12.5 x 6 = a port cross sectional area of 75 sq in. In other words, if you tune the port to 35 Hz and the port is 16 inches long, you will need a 7 cu. ft box. Dude, thats one big box. Do you have that much room?

Bill...that would be about as big as my box...lol....And I have about 5 inches of cargo area in my Explorer haha

ya i put in my dimensions on the box calculator and it came out to even more then what i expected but its going to be a wall thats why i was asking you guys if they should go towards the front or the back and you guys said to face them upwards but no biggy.

butnow how do i make my port again lol 21x36x23 thats what they r now with 8.37 cuft and b4 they were 23x40x23 and that was 10.299 cu ft.

so it is going to b a wall so im lookin at acouple of 16-mc2000d amps cause def need some power for this big asss box but you guys been alot of help.

now would it b louder if theere facing towards the front and where should the port go lol lol?
