hey, i use nero for burning dvds and iso files, you have to convert whatever video file you have to a dvd which nero will do for you. That error message invalid dvd makes me think that there is something on the blank dvd already. you can only burn on a dvd once unless you burn a data dvd which you won't need to. If you still get that message with a new blank disc then you are putting the dvd in upside down lol or maybe you are trying to burn 8x or 16x times on a 4x or 2x dvd?:)

when you change dvd or cd drives in a computer usually you have to reinstall the burning program you use so it can give the proper info and burning parameters for the new drive.:)

Thats why I want him to make a Video_TS folder. All programs make this folder prior to burning a DVD. Then they use the folder to actually burn the DVD.

If he is able to create this folder, see the folder, see the .VOB file in the folder and still is unable to burn a DVD then we need to look for another problem

    ok update
    so i got Sonic myDVD
i go to burn it makes the menus (it says building menus) then as soon as it says transcoding audio it stops and a window pops up and says

Sonic MyDVD has encountered a problem and needs to close...
    This happens EVERY time
    any ideas?!?!?!
oh and i downloaded the latest firmware for the burner and i dont know if this helps but it says DVD-RW buner on my computer list but the second i put a blank DVD in it says CD Drive

the error that pops up gives no reason or solution for the problem...

are you using windows 98 or xp? do you have sound on your computer, is it working? when you move the volume up or down you should hear a ding each time. can also go to my computer/control panel/system/hardware/device manager and see if there is any question marks or x's on anything in there. don't change anything in there though. can also try removing any other burning software that you installed by going to my computer/control panel/add remove programs, don't remove anything if you don't know exactly what it is. after you have done that restart your computer and reinstall your mydvd software. that should get you going..also your burning software needs to have about 7 gigs of space on your hardrive for cache is your hardrive full? go my computer then right click on c: and left click on properties to see how much room you have left on your hard drive.

if your sound card is not working properly you wont be able to burn a dvd or audio cd, it has to go through the sound card. do you have speakers hooked up to your computer?

if you go to my computer/control panel/system/device manager and see if there is any x's question marks or exclamation marks on anything. If there is then thats most likely the problem

ok just wanted to make sure where we are at, when you burn an audio or dvd cd the data-sound has to go through the sound card when its being transfered from your computers hard drive along with the processor, motherboard, memory, also it is needed to convert any audio before it is burned to cd. so if its not working you will get strange errors. i don't know what to tell you now..everything seems ok on the hardware side. try burning an audio cd am curious

Use DivX2DVD and make the Video_TS folder, I did send it to you didn't I?

Make sure you look at and make note of the output folder, we will need to be able to find the Video_TS folder

I have to go to Brownwood here in a little while, I won't be back till late tonight.
