I have to agree my 9kv2's were awesome, but just moved to two 11kv2's. I am using a JL 500/1. the amp was tested @ 733 watts, so I was putting that whole 733 wats to two ed 9kv2's. They never even flinched! Maybe I am carzy going to new box and new subs because the old ones were awesome!
Excellent, QES would have told me most of that. But you did it by research. There would have been a bigger difference if the woofer was optimized for ported enclosures. Seeing that the difference is minimal, I would also pick a middle size, around 3-1/2 to 4 cu ft. So well done. Hey Azn, is that your box your taking about? It should easily be in the middle 140's. I figured between 142 and 145.
No not my box...My box that you designed is LOUD as phuck though...I just need a new woofer...Was thinking about the Elemental Designs 16Ov.2 I already have a 9.1 amp that is capable of pushing 1200 watts rms at 1 ohm at 12.5 volts. Should be pretty loud in my box...but the ED recommended box size is 2.5 They design their subs to work very well in small enclosures...but I think it would still work pretty well in my box. My box could get into the 140's easily
Already found that stuff online...for your box anything between 3.5-4 cu ft will work great...like in my previous post
Hey Azn, typically when we see a high Qts (0.61 is high), it might suggest a speaker that is best suited for a sealed enclosure. Fs divided by Qes Verifies this. The result is 35, if I get a number of 50 or less we need a sealed box. We can still use a ported box, but we need to see a smooth graph (nothing peaky) in the Gain Graph. At this point we need to use BassBox, with all the parameters, to look at Cone Displacement and see where the woofer is going out of control. Typically I like to see 30 Hz or lower. The large recommended box size is a plus and should get us there. But we need all of the theile /small parameters to complete the analysis properly. Anyway sorry about the Lesson
no problem...the response IS pretty peaky...but hell the box you designed me is peaky but sounds good to me
now i have a question about headunits do they play any role in the performance of a system i have it narrowed down to either Alpine or Pioneer are there any other good ones besides eclipse
