Well I'm home, finally. I'll fix those amp gains/bass boosts tonight or tomorrow. I might be starting a new job tomorrow so we'll see.

Oh yeah, I've been visiting colleges and I think I'm going to sell my grand marquis before I go away to college about a year from now. I want something that won't stick out as much to thieves... because I'm probably going to UF (Gainesville), U. Miami (Miami obviously), FSU (Tallahassee), or UCF (Orlando)...

I need to find a new vehicle. I figure I'll probably just tint the windows on it, put in a system... and maybe some simple black rims or exhaust depending on what it is.

Alright I adjusted the amps. The 350.2 mids/highs amp has the gain set at about 60% and the bass boost at 0%. The 400.1 sub amps have the gains set at about 50-60% and the bass boosts at about 30%. The voltage at the speaker leads when I was matching the amps was 20.0 volts when I was done. (engine off the whole time)

Hey does anyone know a song with a bunch of 50 Hz beats? I played a 10 second 50 Hz clip and it was insane lol.

How do you know if an amp is clipping?

That's a hard thing to do by ear for me anyways lol, as soon as you hear distortion or when you are turning up the deck and you get to a point where the bass is not getting louder as you turn it up, then it is clipping. That's the best way that i know without using meters and oscilliscopes, I learned the hard way several amps and speakers later...

20 volts sounds pretty good to me, i wouldn't go past 25 volts, get azn to calculate the exact voltage you should have, i don't have the formulas.

play a sine wave....keep turning the gain up...once you hear the tone change in pitch...than that change in pitch means the signal is clipped

Hm, because this time when I was adjusting the amp gains with the DMM I started with them both at 0 gain obviously, (I was playing a 70 Hz tone) and I was going to turn the amp on the left all the way until I liked it then adjust the right amp. Well I did, about 50-60%, so I measured the voltage and went to the right amp and started turning the gain up... I didn't even turn it up 25% and it started making a popping noise like it was cutting off, so I turned them both back to 0.

Then I decided I'd go up slowly. I turned the left amp up to like 20%, measured, then matched the voltage on the right amp. Then I turned the left amp up a little more, measured, and then matched the voltage on the right amp... I did this until I got to about 50-60% gain. Then I did the same slow process with the bass boost.

Do you think my amp was clipping? Oh and Azn, what should the exact voltage be? (what's the formula btw?)

Eazy you're car is on while you are doing all of this right??? cuz it should be or else you may get too much voltage drop and the amps will clip sooner
