I take it they don't anymore?

btw, how the hell do I get this head unit out? lol

Okay, I took the head unit out. Here's what I see. The SW-OUT has the RCA's for one of the 400.1's plugged in. The AUX1-IN has plugs going into as well. The PRE-OUT REAR and PRE-OUT FRONT aren't plugged into anything.

I'm running an RCA from the head unit to one of the 400.1's, then a short RCA from that 400.1 to the other 400.1...

I need an RCA from the head unit to the 350.2 for the components... do I use pre-out front?

I would use the fronts preouts.

As for the voltage gauge...don't run a power wire from the front battery...that is not the voltage you want. Get the power from one of your 400.1 amps. That is what you want to see.

How do I do that? Slide the power wire into the same terminal as the 4 gauge amp power wire? Then slide the remote wire into the amp's remote terminal also?

Most point type ignition systems were phased out by the early late 60's...

The easiest way to remove a radio is to use a prybar and cutting torch BTW!!!!!

Well I found the keys lol. I'm not sure if it's all the way back in. It seems like it's sticking out 1/8" farther, should I feel a snap when it's all the way in?

Bah, I wish my freakin ground distribution block and mini anl fuses would come in... waiting on them is slowing my progress big time. I can't finish drilling the amp rack until the block comes in, which means I can't carpet it, which means I can't mount and wire up the amps, which means I can't test the components... damn cardomain. I'd be done by now if it weren't for them.

you can just slide the power wire for the gauge into the same terminal as the power wire for the amp...make sure to fuse it

Last night my check engine light came on, could that have anything to do with the big three?

I doubt it eazy, that's usually telling you it's a sensor or a problem, although i have driven with that light on in my other car like forever lol. Hey where did you get that gauge from? Is it online?

I haven't bought the gauge yet... they sell them on amazon.com for like $40.

But since it's going in the trunk I might get a cheaper one, since I'm not as worried about it matching. I was thinking I'd install it in the amp rack.

Well yesterday I cut the pieces and started the box.

I cut the sub holes 1/16-1/8" bigger than the template this time and they fit perfect. The template was too exact. When I put it around the sub it couldn't even spin it was so tight... so obviously a pencil line inside the template would be a hair too small.

I'm definitely getting better at box building. I sanded the edges of the port pieces and put half the box together in 20 minutes before dinner... pre-drilled the holes and put in 2" coarse thread screws as well as wood glue.

    Looked like this before...

Now the port edges are nice and smooth...

I should be done with the box tomorrow. Feel free to virtually slap me if I'm not.

Here's what I've done this morning...

I'm going to have to attach some small blocks to fit in between the 2 front pieces at the end of the port... then sand it all of course
    [IMG]

I'm trying to decide whether or not I should put 2 braces on the back wall about 4-5" long... perpendicular to the back wall pointing at the center of the sub magnet
    [IMG]
    So much for clamping...

So what do you think, should I brace it like this?

Or should I add external bracing later if I need it?

Nice job eazy!! HA, that thing looks huge, should be nice. Do you have the woofers and amps already?

Maybe just put one brace in the middle

Yeah I have everything except my ground distribution block and a couple fuses. As soon as those come in I'll be able to finish. It's going to be nuts.

Yes, I like to call my shop "the driveway" lol.

    Thanks a lot guys.

Oh yeah, so all my RCA's, speaker/tweeter wires, remote wire, and power wire are run under my carpet into the trunk. I put all the carpet back into place, put all the plastic pieces back together, I put the rear deck and back seat in, and my car is completely together except the door panels. Ah, it feels so nice having a semi-finished car again lol.

Yeah, here I'll do a quick summary of the setup for people who don't want to read 150 pages lol...

-two Kicker 400.1 amps powering two Kicker CVR12's (400 watts to each)
-one Kicker 350.2 amp powering set of CDT 5.25" components in the front doors(110 watts to each)
-Panasonic head unit powering set of MTX 5x7's in the rear deck (18 watts to each)

I made myself take the time to sand those brace edges like the port.

Attaching those blocks at the end of the port was a pain in the ass. I tried to glue and screw them in place but I split like 5 of them... even with only 1 screw. Then I tried a tiny finishing nail... same thing. I ended up making them a tiny bit too big and rubber hammering them in, and I used glue of course.

All I have left to do is sand the port, spray paint the port black, then carpet it.

I was wondering... have any of you guys tried little LEDs inside the box to give a faint blue glue out the port?

very nice eazy, want to build mine and send it to me lol? Can you see the raw power flowing through it?
