lol oh ya.. was messing around but my deck has high and low pass crossovers built in the menu so you can cut the main bass anyways to the front or rear or for all four and it doesn't affect the sub output

Set all EQ to flat....then listen to it for a week. Then see how you like it.

I used to do all that eq crap...then I set it to flat...now I love it flat

Well my components should be here today. Now I just need to figure out how to wire the 16 guage wire from the 350.2 through the doors to them. I think I saw something about it on the12volt so I'll have to check that out. I still need to order a new ground distribution block and some mini-anl fuses. I also need to find a location for the tweeters.

im a big fan of a flat EQ, but flat only sounds good with a good speaker setup. EQs to me are basically cheap way to TRY to get more out of a crappy system.

I love ford... it only had the rubber boot and a hole in the metal lol. Running the 16 gauge wires was easy.

Oh yeah, so my friend has a piece of crap 1990 jeep comanche, and he said the speakers sucked, so I took the door panels off. He had some tiny ass crappy jensen speakers and the one on the driverside was blown... then he has 2 tiny speakers in the back (stock) that suck too. I decided I'd give him my 100 rms MTX 6x9's I'm not using, so I built some speaker boxes for them (he didn't want to cut the door to make them fit). The boxes fit right behind the seats...

Tomorrow I'm going to hook them up (re-route the wires going to the doors to go to the boxes in the back). I think he's just gunna fade it so only the 6x9's play.

Well now my problem isn't the box, but speaker placement. I don't know where to put the tweeters. I'm putting the 5.25"s in the front doors and I had planned on putting the tweeters where the side view mirror attaches to the door because my pillars are too rounded, but now I just read CDT's website... here.

Also, for the crossovers, do I just slide the wire under the metal piece? Or do I need a little ring terminal?

Should I change that switch to +3 or -3? Or just leave it at 0?

I'm also having a problem mounting these crossovers... I don't think there's any room behind the door panels for them.

you can use spade terminals or just slide the wire under them.

You don't have to mount then in the doors...somewhere behind the dash will be fine.

I'd have the tweeter at 0 first then adjust if they are too overpowering or not enough

Those MTX speakers are nice, 100 watts rms, 300 watts peak i think. I always grab those when i can, a little better than Infinity Reference 6x9s

Yeah you're right they are 100 rms, I was thinking of my 6802 5x7's. Those are the 6902 6x9's.

And I usually keep my subwoofer set at 0 to 4+ and the built-in low pass filter at 80Hz... should I keep it at 80Hz?

Do you think the side view mirror tweeter placement is okay?

Oh and I made some speaker baffles for my new 5.25"s today after we finished wiring up the jeep (the 6x9's were a HUGE improvement)...

Well....general rule of thumb is to keep the tweeters as close to the woofers as possible.

What you can do though for testing is mount those woofers in the doors or wherever they are and wire everything up...don't mount the tweeters...get some double sided tape and experiment with the tweeters in different locations until you get the right spot where you like it

Bah! Good idea. If only my car wasn't power everything and the door panels didn't have 8470834702 wires lol.

Yeah same here man... my door panels are old and they flex like hell when you pull on the handle to close the door...cheap ford plastic.

Is the firewall grommet for 1/0 gauge usually 5/8" or 3/4" ID?

not sure...I use 3/4" loom for 0 gauge wire though...not sure if that helps

Okay, because I think the one I bought is 5/8" and it's a really tight fit... I'm afraid I'm not going to be able to slide the wire through it when I wire my amp power run. I'll probably get a 3/4"... hopefully I won't have to widen the hole in the firewall... I don't know how I'd do that besides work a drill bit around the edge for a long ass time lol.
