    What kind of difference am I going to notice between 33 Hz and 40 Hz? (everything else the same)

    I tried 4.5 cubes tuned to 40 Hz for kicks... looks like a pretty smooth response curve.

    I could make the box 43" wide, 18.75" deep, 14" tall and make the port 12.5" tall, 4" wide, and 12.25" long... in the center.

    Here's 4.5 cubes tuned to 33 Hz...

    the 40Hz box has a 2db higher peak. Low end on both is good...the 40Hz will be louder. The box is 4.5 cubes so the lows will still be there and still be loud.

    My box is tuned at 40Hz and the lows are very good. It is just preference...some people think 40Hz is too high for daily. Some people think 30Hz is too low for daily.

    Alright, in that case I think I'll do that and go with 40 Hz. I did 3 cubes at ~31 Hz last time so I'm curious to hear the difference.

    Cool...well make sure to take pics...and lots of em...and maybe a video or two

    Didn't I design that last box for you???

    Yeah the first one, the 3 cubes at 31 Hz.

    I'm sure this new box will be much louder...well noticeably really

    I can wait till I get enough money for my 19Ov.2

    Well I got my distribution blocks. The power block is fine... but the ground block was wrong...

    The website says:

    Features

    * Platinum finish
    * (1) 1/0 gauge or 4 gauge inputs
    * (3) 1/0 gauge or 4 gauge outputs
    * Custom tooled solid brass
    * Flexible for use with multiple wire sizes
    * HPP plating for superior corrosion resistance

    ...well it's (2) 1/0 gauge or 4 gauge outputs, not (3)... so I have to return it.

    fuking bastards...are they paying for the shipping??

    Yeah they're paying for everything. I'm going up to radioshack in a minute to get mini-anl fuses... I'm going to see if they have a dist. block.

    Which box is that? Sub? Amp (power)?

    ...our favorite SPL guy on the lowrider site...

    HIM: 40hz [IMG]

    kiss any sort of deep low bass goodbye and you better use a ssf or you are going to smoke those subs

    ME: An ssf?

    I know someone with a box tuned to 40 hz and he said the lows were still good. He also said with 4.5 cubes of volume my lows will still be there.

    HIM: subsonic filter

    and you must not know that output in a ported box drops of extremely steep right below tuning frequency... that box would sound nice with rock and some rap, but anything with low deep notes it wont handle

    ME: Both my amps have subsonic filters...

    what about 37 Hz?

    ME:
    The f3 on 33 Hz tune is 30.47 Hz
    The f3 on 35 Hz tune is 31.33 Hz
    The f3 on 37 Hz tune is 32.22 Hz
    The f3 on 40 Hz tune is 33.75 Hz

    HIM: id tune to between 30-35hz

    This box.

    Before that sub I had a JL Audio 15W4 in there....with NO SUB SONIC FILTER and 600 watts RMS. NEVER had a problem with bottoming out the sub at all. The box is designed to control the subs excursion very well. When turned up full tilt the 15W4 looked like it was barely moving.

    Yeah it may be true the response curve drops off kinda steep...but what is cabin gain??? ahh yess yess cabin gain. On PAPER it may seem steep. But in real life...haha the lows are their trust me.

    Hell Pete Kulickie made this box. On paper it was supposed to have NOTHING below 45Hz....but sure enough it went LOWWW and LOUD

    I could build a box like that^...

    with 2 ports 12.5"x2" so I still get 50 sq. inches of port but I can do L ports along the sides and back wall so I can make any tune I want.

    Should I do single chamber with 2 ports or 2 chambers with 1 port each?

    I'd do separate chambers because of two amps.

    Alright, does 25 sq. inches of port sound right for each chamber? or less?

    get the most you can...if you can fit 2.5 inch wide ports than that would be perfect

    either way will work fine. With 2 seperate chambers you will have the added benefit of internal bracing which is critical in enclosures. But sonically, there really wont be any difference between the 2.

    Oh, and as far as vent area goes...more the better, but you dont have to get carried away....25 square inches, about the same as 2) 4 inch diameter ports will do fine I am sure.
