Alright guys what do you think of this?

By the way, winISD told me the port should be 19.16" and this website told me 18.32" so I called it 18.5".

Looks good...If you have a router than round off the inside port edges...reduce port noise and smooth out the air flow

Alright all these people have been telling me 12.5-17 sq. inches of port per woofer... but according to this website, a single 12" woofer with an xmax of 12.64mm tuned to 35Hz should have a minimum area of 24.24 in2.

hey eazy, use winisd and build the box with exact measurements from winisd, otherwise it won't be tuned properly. Don't listen to any other websites. You can shorten the port length if you want by making the port bigger.

Yeah, but winISD beta and winISD pro alpha were giving me and azn different port lengths (about 1/2" different) last time. But as of right now I'm trying to figure out this port area nonsense.

ok well 1/2 inch difference is probably ok, which subs are you using

My setup is going to consist of...

-a pair of kicker 400.1's powering a pair of cvr12's
-a kicker 350.2 powering a pair of 5.25" cdt components

.5 inches difference of port is only like a tenth of a Hz...it will make no difference...also their is end correction.

Whoever said 12.5-17 sq inches of port does not know what they are talking about...graphing the port velocity with the power you have and the box a 12.5-17 inches of port per woofer will have pretty high vent velocity.

Don't listen to them. I use WinISD to see what size port I can fit...usually I try to fit the largest port I can...Less port noise, lower port velocity...better

Some people go by 12-15 sq inches of port PER CUBIC FEET

You know what, screw it. It seems like the people on the lowrider site know less and less... even though I only listen to the mod and 2 other guys. I'm thinking a 2 chambered design. What do you think the best port area would be? The easiest would be 31... 15.5" tall and 2" wide.

    I mean 2" x 15.5" for each chamber.

that'll work...can you try to fit 2.5 inch wide ports??

Well I kind of just went to lowes and had them cut my pieces lol.

Do you think 2" is too small?

    I was thinkin this...

If I did my math correctly it's 2.5341 ft3 + port displacement and sub displacement.

you can prolly get away with it...it'll do perfectly fine.

But I like big ports...not everyone does though. If you can make some 45 degree boards for the bends so the air flow is smoother that will help a ton. Distance from the middle of the 45* to the inner port corner should be 2 inches

Well I'm 1/2 done building lol. In theory I should be done tomorrow. I'll take a couple pics of it right before I put the top piece on... so you guys can get a look at the ports and such. I'll also take some pics of it next to a basketball so you guys can get an idea how freakin massive this thing is lol. I'm going to have to reinforce that false floor. This thing is gunna be heavy as hell... no steroid-free thief will able to lift this out of my trunk.

Well I'm heading up to the stereo shop today to get RCA cables, remote wire, 12" circles cut in my MDF, carpet, etc.

EDIT: the bastards were closed... and parked their van in the doorway so no smash and grabs...

Well I'm 3/4 done now. I cut the holes myself...they came out pretty good... besides the fact that they're 1/16"- 1/8" too small so I've been filing for 20 minutes and still no luck. Once those circles are the right size all I have left to do is attach the front pieces with the circles cut out, attach the top, do a little more caulking, and carpet it.

    Alright I took some pictures...

I haven't actually attached the front and top pieces yet, they're just resting there.
