How about putting them under the cardboard and covering up the deck with some light material? Hide them from prying eyes, so to speak. BTW, you have done a nice job on your cruiser, easy.

You guys want snow? Head on up to Denver if you like that crap. I know I am tired of this garbage. Still have snow in my yard and piled on the street from Christmas. Forecast tonight? Subzero temps and you guessed it....More Snow! One thing, the endless snow and ice on the roads does allow me to enjoy my system, I suppose. I sure am spending a lot of time in traffic lately.

eh....I got into this when I was about 15

I started by doing A LOT of reading and research...then installed my first system and then kept going from there and I've learned A LOT from this forum and others

Eazy...what you could do is do what Ranger's sister did. replaced the whole rear deck with some MDF...made a template to fit the rear deck and built some 6x9 boxes on it.

Here is the thread...this is what I'm talking about

purrs like a kitten.has a noticeable increase in lowend torque.hell at highway speed my rpm is lower.was 2100 at 65mph.now its 1900 at same speed.even shifts diffrent.for the better.

Oh and my battery died today... the only things on were the head unit going to the two 5x7's, the clock, and the trunk light. I had it going for about 3 hours. My dad thinks my battery may be reaching it's end. He said that shouldn't have been a problem. What do you guys think?

I'd have it load tested...then get a Duralast Gold.

    Great battery for the price.

Why get one??? Because I have one and it pumps out power like a champ and has a pretty good reserve capacity

What are the most important specs on the battery, and what should I be looking for?

Well...I usually look for high cranking amps and good reserve capacity.

Wal-Mart has some pretty good Everstart Maxx batteries that are like 60 bucks...3 year warranty and you can return it no questions asked.

But I like Duralast...because I have one lol.

I wrote down the specs of my battery (I have no idea what they mean lol)...

    Size: 65
    Type: 65-60
    CCA: 650
    CA: 780

    I have a group 65 battery also.

    but my specs are

    1000 Cranking amps

    875 Cold cranking amps

    165 reserve capacity

    "What does CCA mean?
Cold Cranking Amps is a rating used in the battery industry to define a battery's ability to start an engine in cold temperatures. The rating is the number of amps a new, fully charged battery can deliver at 0° Farenheit for 30 seconds, while maintaining a voltage of at least 7.2 volts, for a 12 volt battery. The higher the CCA rating, the greater the starting power of the battery.

What does MCA or CA mean?
This is a rating used to describe the discharge load in amperes which a new, fully charged battery at 32 degrees F (0C), can continuously deliver for 30 seconds and maintain a terminal voltage equal or greater than 1.2 volts per cell. It is sometimes referred to as Marine Cranking Amps or Cranking Amps.

    What is reserve capacity?
Reserve Capacity, (RC) is a battery industry rating, defining a battery's ability to power a vehicle with an inoperative alternator or fan belt. The rating is the number of minutes a battery at 80 degrees F can be discharged at 25 amps and maintain a voltage of 10.5 volts for a 12 volt battery. The higher the reserve rating, the longer your vehicle can operate should your alternator or fan belt fail."

The higher the cold cranking amps, the better. The rest will take care of themselves if that number is up there. Of course, that is far more important in the type of climate I live in as opposed to say Arizona. Batteries generally die in the summertime there due to heat.

I run Interstate batteries in our cars simply because we are a dealer. Oh, and they sponsor a racecar.

Okay I found my battery on the internet, its RC is 130.

Well I took some pictures of my deadening progress. I'm not finished as you can see, and it's not the cleanest job.

So should I do both sides of the rear deck?

You are doing a great job Eazy...keep it up

The rear deck only needs one side. Are you going to deaden the sides of your trunk??
