    a couple of formulas...
life - computer time = tolerable, but inconvenient
life - work = amazing, but no money for beer
life - beer schedule = no life.

life cannot be enjoyable with the absence of beer time..

    My formula is the law..

Okay, this is confusing the hell out of me, aznboi3644, it seems like you're hinting I should tune it lower than 35-40 to be safe, unless I can "respect" my system. While at the same time, Hautewheeler, it seems like you're telling me to tune high to be safe.

    Oh and aznboi3644, it's winISD .44

Now, if I do indeed go with this plan, around 2.25 ft cubed and 40Hz...

What should I do to avoid any mechanical problems...literally?

Dont use the bass boost, dont listen too the 1812 overture, and know when to stop turning up the volume!!! If you are listening to your system, and it sounds like it "might: be a lttle loud and maybe distorted, IT IS!!!!! If you have a sub-sonic filter, USE IT, yep........

Okay, the kicker 400.1 amp I'm looking at says...

"KICKEQ Boost: Variable to +18dB, centered @ 40Hz

    12dB/octave Subsonic Filter defeatable @ 25Hz"

Does this sound good or bad?

    Subsonic filter is good

bass boost is bad, well, as long as you dont crank it up to the max!!!!! Alot of times, turn up the bass boost on the amp about halfway, turn down the bass on your HU and away you go......makes for a nice, although slightly exaggerated bottom end....

Well the peak is at 50Hz...which is more of like Viking said....boom boom boom lets get loud...F3 is decent.

Is there not an excursion graph on there???

Also you can tune high like 40Hz still and have a really smooth response...if the box size is big enough...tune a small box 40 Hz...most likely its peaky...tune a medium to large size box at 40Hz...most likely its gonna be smoother...but hell listen to it...doesnt really matter...tuning is only relative gain
