    1. wire running from the +battery to the amplifier
    2. wire running from the +battery to the ford power distribution box
    3. wire running from the +battery to somewhere behind the engine that I can't see
    4. wire running from the power distribution box to the alternator
    5. wire running from the -battery to ground
    6. wire running from the -battery to somewhere behind the engine that I can't see
    7. wire running from the power distribution box to ground

I don't need to do the others to get the effective power?

NO!!! NOT the distribution block to the battery.

THE ALTERNATOR TO BATTERY +. This is a straight shot...fuse it.
    Battery to chassis.

Behind the engine is the engine block ground wire

What I didn't understand was, it seemed like my car's wiring was a lot more complex than that thread's description..where no power distribution box was even mentioned. And I was told to run the new wire right alongside the old wire...but then told not to run the wire from the alternator to the power dist. box, then from the box to the battery....when that's how my existing wiring works.

    Okay...

    1. I've found my battery negative to chassis, it's like 8 inches long.
    2. I've found my battery negative to engine block, it's roughly 4-5 feet long.
    3. As for the alternator, the way mine works is, it runs from the alternator 2-3 feet to a ring terminal attached to the side of the power dist. box, then there's another ring terminal right on top of it with a wire running about 8 inches to the battery positive. So you're telling me I should run 0 gauge wire right next to the existing wires for the first 2, except for the alternator, just run the 0 gauge straight from the alternator positive to the battery positive with a fuse, correct?

    FUSED??????

    WHY?

It will actually require 2 fuses to be properly fused, one at the alternator, and one at the battery........I have never fused this wire, It has alwys been run in a manner that willl not allow it to short out under any condition other than a wreck of the vehicle, always double loomed them, with each loom being taped off with varnished cambric tape and electrical tape.......wire ties and run in a manner to allow for engine rotation and vibration..not once did i ever have a problem, EVER in all the vehicles i have done this too, and its well over "too many"....... and besides, thats whats insurance is for!!!!!:)
