just about every one here will say.go out and take a listen if you can.if not then......i've heard very good things about MB.the RF's..well i heard some at best buy and didnt like them.then again its hard to really get good sound from a sound board.

just yesterday i went to best buy and heard some infinity comps.the y sounded like crap.....all the speakers did.

if you can find a high end shop maybe you can listen to a demo car.thats all i can tell ya.

i've been looking for some good 6.5's for at least 6 months now.

first of all, how much power do you have available for the comps. Next, I just want to warn you that buying thinks off Ebay voids manufacturers warranty on audio equipment. I would say the MB quart out of those you saw but then i noticed its missing its tweeter mounting hardware.. I mean I don't like to touch things on ebay unless they are brand new still in the box and at a crazy low price. That way if they dont work its not going to be a big deal.

well today i got around to installing my 600hz hi pass xovers to my polk plates.

i can now run the doors down to 80hz without popping the 4x6's.the whole thing sounds totally diffrent now.for the better.
so i'm putting off buying new comps for the doors for now.

check this out...while i had was setting the radios xover and amp gain. i had some music playing to test it out.
so i'm play some lyle lovitt "that's right your not from texas"it has some deep bass notes and some sweet sounding horns.anyways the bass kicks in and i thought the sub was playing, it sounded that good.

then i remembered...hey i unhooked it before i started.i was shocked as to how these little 6.5's were playing the bass.with very very little rattleing of the door pannels to boot.

stupid question but are all hu capable of running component speakers? and when i run my amp do i have to run new wire from amp to the comps in the door. i am sorry this is my first big install and i am so  confused and overwhelmed  i have put 40-50 hours research into it and it seems that the more i learn the more confused i get but i know that you guys will help me pull through and have a great system so in the end it will be worth it. i intend on spending about a grand total over about 6mo.to1year time period.

i do have an old pyramid crossover, a jbl gt q150, a small sony 20x2 and a jensen40x2 so i do have a few old amps along with 2 12" boston acoustic subs in a sealed box and a set of tweets. theese are all still installed in my truck but i will probably rob them to put in my car.

you can run them off the headunit as long as they are 4ohm component speakers. Like my components are 3ohm so I cant run them off my headunit. If you run an amp then your speakers wires need to be going to the amp instead of the headunit so it is basically being bypassed.

Are you looking more for LOUD or more for just sound quality with your speakers.. whats more important to you.

okay. just me. but i love infinty. I've had my infinty 6x8's and 6x9's for about a year and ive gotten lots of complements on them.

and guess what... i'm selling them.. they're used, but i'm also selling them cheap.
i'm pretty sure that most of the people on the forum can vouch for me that i don't sell crap.

anyway. idk if they will fit, but 50 bucks takes a pair of them.
and I also have a cheap 4 channel for 100 bucks

it sounds like you have all you need for a decent system.
so all you need are some mids and highs?

if your stuff works then use them.

I would go with some Polk Audio speakers if you want a quality speaker that gets real loud.

i will agree with dave on this.the polks are nice.i have a pair of 6x9's in the rear of my truck that can get rediculously loud with only 40 watts from my amp.also had a set of the 6.5 db's in the doors, but i switched them out for some mtx mids.i wish i never did that.

if it were me i would run the subs off of the jbl and try the sony or jensen on the front speakers to see which one you like better.then the other amp to the rear speakers.

i know you can get some coaxial 5.25's or 6.5's for under 90 bucks at cuircut city.i listened to the polk comps there the other day too.199.00 for those.93db S/N.the highs sounded very crisp.better than the kicker comps at the same price.with only 89db S/N.

I know my next car I set up for myself is either going to be all Polk Audio or Boston Acoustics. Or maybe a combo of the two.. I really like the Polk speakers but I want to eventually get a G5 sub with a radiator from Boston Acoustics.

i really dont want to use the subs because the box is permanantly attached to the truck the moron who installed them screwed the back of the box to the truck from the inside and i dont know if a 50wx2(4ohm) 75x2(2ohm) 150wx1(4)ohm amp can run a decent set of subs can it i was mistaken when i said it was four channel i just ripped it out and it is 2channel. ibanez what are the specs on the 4-channel and would you want the truck as a trade for some old equiptment ?

50x2 is not alot, but it's a start.get this i used to run 2 12's with my old ass hifonics vulcan.it moved those subs pretty good.that amp was also just 50x2.

if you dont think it will run 2 then wire up just one.150 watts will get it going.jbl make's a good amp.i used to have a tiny 4 ch in my moms old kia running all 4 speakers.18x4.

lets just say it got loud enough.

subs are at least 1-2 months down the road i just switched jobs last month so it is tough financially right now. depending how good the amp ibanez is selling i might buy it and replace the rear deck with some cheap coax and run them off it and use this to run one of the subs. how do you calculate the volume of a fiberglass box? i will probably try to fab one i am pretty good with my hands and have fixed the hull of my boat after it was damaged in a storm so i sorta know how to lay fiberglass.
