With a good increase in power, yes. I am not sure what woofer I would use, but I would look for one with a long excursion. The reason is that as excursion increases so does the amount of power needed to buttom it out. The factory Bose amp is around 80-90 watts RMS so if you increase the power 4 times, there will be an improvement. Now remember that Bose uses very tight control and equalization to make their systems sound the way they do. Hooking up another amp to the Bose system will recieve the same equalized signal. I understand your wanting to keep the stock appearance. I cannot stand an aftermarket HU in a dash unless it looks like it belongs there. Have you considered a JL Cleansweep. JL Audio: Products You keep the stock HU, add your amps and speakers and it removes and fixes equalization problems. And I think(?) it will work with the Bose Radio.
actually im pretty happy with the stock system just the bass the cleansweep is very expensive, i herd RF made something of the sort much cheaper. so you dont think a simple swap of the sub to a better sub would improve it at all or must i add a separate amp for it.
The Rockford-Sixty is the processor your referring to, I believe (but not 100%sure) that you need a Palm Pilot to calibrate the unit. I dont think a woofer by itself will make a big difference. You really need more power. Then you'll have an improvement. But remember that the Bose equalization will still be your input. The tendency for many people will be to turn up the gain on the amp to compensate. Thats when the problem of over excursion happens. Thats why I think a long throw woofer (High Excursion) would be a big help.
Yes, I just did one today. This was a DTS. There is one sub, single voice coil. The wires were green and blue. The one in position A is positive. The Voi/Black and the Grn/Black get tied together ant the Grn and Vio get tied together. The Vio/Black and Grn/Black go to B and the other two go to A. The LOCX has its own gain control and a lowpass filter built in. The customer supplied his own woofer and amp, but it worked OK. It was a Sony amp and a Pioneer TS-SW3041D sallow mount. It wasnt designed for Free air but it worked better than stock.
im still not sure of which sub to go with lol heck maybe ill just mount one of my JLs in there does a 12 fit right in or does it need a plate? (deville i think has a smaller 10)
Hey it might have been the 10-inch. I remember it was a really thin mount Pioneer. And the install went really smooth. I did attach the woofer to a 1/2-inch MDF board and attached the board to the deck . Other than the fact that it was 95 degrees in the shop, the install went smooth. Again, there was an improvement, it was not ground pounding, but a definate improvement over stock. I will pay close attention on the next one. Apparently Cadillac owners hang out together like wolves in a pack. We had a customer come in today, he wanted an estimate on his DTS. I didnt do the estimate but I ovreheard LOCX (we only use the LOCX on Bose so far) and subwoofer.
