Another thing.......... My setting is Bass -3 and treble +6 That is for optmal sound..........What is going on?
I know this topic has shifted into helping you fix your problem, but i gotta speak. I am a long time JL Audio fan. I have always been, and i still am. I've heard the new w3v2's, and in 2 seconds i'll put my 03 e12k up against a 12w3v2. I strongly believe the e12k will win in output, and be damn close in SQ. Those installers and salesmen at local shops always talk highly of the equiptment they are tryin to push, its nothing new. I had a guy talkin all big about some audiobahn subs one day. I took him outside and let him hear the shiva, and he couldnt believe what i was telling him about it. Shut him up real quick. Dont let local shop dealers steer you wrong. They'll try to. Not saying jl would be a bad way to go, but nothing wrong with companies such as ED and Adire.
he is not Planning on buying JL's man, his installed who I suspect is a Authorized JL dealer, told him they are better, and we dont say adire on this forum any back on topic If you can remove your headunit easy enough, just do it your self it takes all of 5mins to change the Wires over and there is NO REASON if he was a compentant installer that he could not have hooked up the RCA's to the Sub Channel... If they sounnding "muddy" there is a crossover, or somehting set wrong somewhere..... Or the Sub Level is set too low by Factory defult it is set to 1/2 full. as far as the Bass -3 treble 6 That is up to you, What type pof Speakers do you have, and are there any crossovers on them If not Boosting the Bass Up at the headunit could make them disort,
I have the Pioneer TS-160DR(?) yellow cones. I dont think there are any crossovers set as far as I can remember. I really was never planning on buying JL For my nexy system I will either get and ED sub or something to the like of a shiva. But I will definetely move up to 2 12"s if I can fit them. But thats far from now
Also Mike, Will you be selling dynamat for a license plate. It seems like my trunk absorbs the sound fairly well but that damn license plate sound like some one is playing the traingle
You dont need dynomat for a license plate, cut up a sponge and glue it to the back of the plate. Should solve the problem if you position it correctly.
I went back to 6th avenue to get the Dynomat when I came across the installer. He was fairly excited to see me and told his friend that I was the kid he was talking about and my system "knocked". He asked me If I minded letting him hear the system and I ofcourse did not object. The guy was also some kind of installer but did not work for 6th Avenue. I told him I had 10's and let him listen to my system with the MX option on. He was impressed but told me that is how you blow out subs and not to play it that loud. He told me to open my trunk and was impressed to see the Kickers. He told me that he mistakened the rattling of my license plate and trunk and thought the subs were bottoming out. He told me that they werent bottoming out at all and would be able to handle the 800W well. I think he asked me if I had 4 or 2 10"s in there but I might have misheard him considering 4 10"s would not fit in my trunk and you could only see 2 10's Both installers agreed that I had to improve my sound stage and power the speakers with an amp. I agree with them, the bass tends muffle pretty uch everythign else. But that what I get for not listening to you guys Time to start building up the cash flow again........
Damn... I wish installers around here were that friendly. The ones I have talked to have allways slammed my ideas, not wanting to explain why my ideas wont work. I kept saying that I wanted a sealed box for my Kove Armageddon and he kept saying "I had one, trust me you dont want it sealed." Wouldnt explain why!
