What do you mean by 'musical'? they are doing good for me. its crazy loud and ya they are tight and they hit the lows like crazy! im prolly givin em about 250-300RMS each i think. i had them in a box that was 4 cubes and tuned to 38hz and this is like night and day. i just have figured out that the bigger the better and im gonna build all my enclosures from 40-45hz. I heard that some cometition cars are even 60-65hz. i dont remember where i heard that though.

Well Ranger and Azn taught me so we should all be on the same playing field lol. Bigger the better is not completely true. I notice once you get above 5-6 cubic feet for most subs there is no more gain if you go bigger and you will actually be wasting power. The kicker L5's and L7's are basically the only subs that require a huge space that i know of, like over 6 cu feet. Also daily driver boxes are between 30-45hz anything over that it will be for competition and won't sound that good for day to day use.

    Well hey guys....

Jonnyv, I just mean to ask, "Would you rate your enclosure as more of an SPL box ? ... or a SQ box" ?

Okay Electro..... so we won't go above 5 or 6 feet. But right now, we are WAY down around 1.5 for each of my subs. I had given you a nice, comforatable little space to work with, which would allow me more free storage space, "however", if my sound could be better / louder / lower with more cubes, I'll give them more cubes !
I need to do some more measurements to get the exact 'max' space, and the shape of my space available...
But if you want to (if you don't mind) try putting my subs in 2 or even 2.5 cubes each, and see what your program tells you about this.

I'll let you know later, about the exact dimensions that I'm working with.

Hey Aznboi, yes, I would figure..... I'd just like to be 95% efficient, without taking up 95% of my cab :) LOL

    Peace,
    Fish

    95% efficient??

Most speakers are only between 1-3% efficient...thats food for thought

they sound really good AND loud not a total SPL box. I love my box. It sounds really good and in that truck... OH MY GOD THAT WOULD BE LOUD!! I say go for it and give em a big box.

No problem, i'll run it through again, give me your max dimensions. Keep in mind that i'm designing these boxes to try and squeeze as much juice out of these subs as possible while keeping SQ. I believe that is what you want? I'm not sure about what your expecting from these but they are only 350 watts each and you are running what like 800 watts to them. You can only go so far with that amount of power assuming the box is correct. I doubt you would hear it inside a building like you heard the other day. If you had two strokers with about 1600 watts rms to each and the correct box then we'd be talking business lol.

    Elemental Designs 13Kv.2 D4

12" subwoofer, dual 4 ohm voice coils
    350 watt power handling
Works well in sealed, ported, or infinite baffle applications
    Eu - Fringe Surround Technology
    Integrated Ventilation System

    Product Description
The 13Kv.2 is an entry level, 12 subwoofer. The sub works extremely well in small enclosures from .8-1.1 cubic feet sealed or 1.2-1.8 cubic feet ported. It also offers more overall displacement then other 12 subs by using a taller, not fatter, surround. This keeps effective piston area at an absolute maximum without sacrificing overall suspension capabilities.

    Hey guys....

Well aznboi3644, not "litterally 95% efficient"..... I just meant to say, I'd like to get my subs to do 95% of what they can..... but wouldn't want to go from 3 cubes (total for both subs) to 9 cubes, or something crazy, just for that last 5%.... You know, the old dimenishing returns thing......

Hey Electro, here within the next week, I expect to start working on my rear wall, and false floor. While I'm at it, I'll get some more accurate measurements, for my max dimensions, and get back to you.
Oh but yes, I'm still leaning towards SQ.

Because again, in the future, just for fun ;-) I am very likely to build a second "oversized" box, tuned low, with a couple 15"s, or a single 18". Somewhere between SPL and super low, but leaning away from SQ.

    Peace,
    Fish

PS, BTW, actually, the sub channel of my RF amp puts out (according the birth sheet) 705 watts, into 2ohms. Just about perfect, huh ? :)

    Peace,
    Fish

cool, the amp is a good match for the subs. You still want 6" ports? I know they are not easily found around me but i didn't look that hard lol. There is a difference if we can make the box bigger, i was screwing around with it last night. Maybe go two 6" ports. Let me know the max dimensions when you get them.
