i guess i am referring to the standard q-logic type boxes that hold two subs and the center sealed chamber is shared by the subs. how do you convert the specs from a single box to that dual sub type of box?
would be best to stick to the manufacturers reccomendations here. Basically the best thing to do here would be to build the box as One, but with the TWO sepaerate enclosures in it, for EACH woofer....for a total of 4 chambers... once you start changing volumes and port lenghts and such, the performance of the driver will be dramitically altered, both acoustically and its maximim displacement limited power handling.... I could fire up my other PC and try to run the numbers for ya i guess, But what i would need its maximim dimensions for your box in your car..... If you can post the max hieght, width and depth, and on which side you need the vents to fire from, I could help ya out...may take a day or so, but will do it....OH, and I would STILL need the t/s parameters for the subs, or aint noting I can do fer ya.....
OH, and DONT buy a prefab bandpass box........they look cool, but they ARE NOT designed for any particular sub...and a bandpass box is VERY critical when it comes to subs, they can literally tear a sub to peices if designed wrong......(yes, i have done it through a few trial and errors! )
I think after all this info I am going to stick to building a standard sealed box. The number one reason is space. I can do it all in a 1.5 cubic ft box, it will allow me to still us my valuable trunk space. Thanks for the ideas. There are many things I could do if I wanted to drop some bucks, but I think a $20 sheet of 3/4 mdf should treat me just fine in this case.
does shape of a sealed box matter. I mean if I were to stay withink the realm of having a .75cubic foot chamber does it matter the shape. Rectangle, wedge, etc.
good deal. I think I am going to build a wedge sort of box to mirror the angle of the back seat. this will give me the most useage of space in the trunk.
good thinking Eubank just make sure the front if flat so they are firing at the tail lights. If you decide to go ported at all.. I recommend having the port fire at the tail lights as well.. but thats me.
I am going sealed just for simplicity and space savings. I am not out to win any competitions. just looking for a nice kick and good boom every now and again (with the wife is not with me, she cant hang)
