I was thinking about 4 to 5 layers since its just a console. Should I do more?

just test it after every coat dries. If it doesn't give or bend in any way then your good. I did 6 coats on the box I made for my wife's car before. It may have been overkill but I just wanted to be safe.

looks good but shouldn't you have already cut the hole for the sub and not put bondo there? you may have a hard time cutting the hole for the sub now.

should have stapled the fabric around the hole and trim it...then glass....now its gonna be a pain in the ass

Well i got it bondoed and the holes cut out. All it needs is plexiglass and paint. Heres a pic of it in my truck for a test fit to see how it looks. What yall think?

I personally would carpet it rather than paint it. get some cup holder inserts too maybe. It will make it really finished and nice.

Well actually i couldnt find any cupholder inserts, so i went to lowes and got 2 3" pvc couplings and slid them down in the holes. Since the hole i cut out wont quite round, i had to put a little extra bondo around the couplings to fill in the gaps.

Yep, a cup will fit. Actually the coupling is a little too big but its fine for me.
