lol Well we started the box yesterday. My friends dad is building it. The plans for today are to just make it stronger, some bracing in the corners, then put the top on the box. Overall, the port came out to be 4.5" wide, 18" high, and 9" deep. Should this be right? We tried to make it 6" wide, but we didn't have enough space, the wood would of been too thin. If we need to make it more deep, it's better to do it now instead of finding out when it's too late an the box is done. 729 square inches of port area I think
Now I am officially confused. My recommended port size is two 6 x 9 inch ports, which gives me a cross sectional area of 108 sq inches. This is equivalent to an 11-3/4 inch round port. So I'm confused, did I miss something
Well... I know that the box is built, and it fits in there with under an inch on both sides. We tried to do 6 x 9 port, but we could only fit about 5 x 9. We also doubled the top so it's got like what an inch an a half. I remember azn busting the screws on his box. I'll get some pics of it, it's huge box, we need to sand off some of the glue still. My 729" was just me doin L x W x H.
To get the sq inches of the port, just do L x W and forget about the length. If your ports are 5x9, then that means you only have 90 sq inches of port.
