okay well il take your guys advice on not buying the sub. so the new one im looking at is a 20inch super old school sub in a very nice box. i dont know the spects on it like i dont know the rms or anything cause id have 2 buy it first or ask him if i can take the sub out and look at the cone. iv never heard a 20 do they sound good? and considering its a 20inch sub and not knowing the spects what would be good amp for it?
hmmmm never heard of an old school 20'' sub. i know clarion had a 32'' way back in the day. i have an IA 21, but those came out a year or two ago. maybe more.
well it sure as hell is an 18inch and it says kicker on the face of the sub so i assumed that it was a 20
how old is old? you dont want to buy an old sub only to have it crap out on you later due to its age. i say buy a decent new sub for the money you have. 2 new 10's or 12's in a properly built enclosure can surprise you. a friend of mine just built a 4th order bandpass for 2 10's that cost him 50 each. 4 cubes sealed into a 10 cube ported section. it moves crazy air and sounds great on music too. not a big numbers enclosure by any means, but it was meant to sound great not put up crazy spl numbers.
honestly i have no idea and i really dont know how to tell if a sub is still in good condition like how do you know if the voice coils are still good if you cant test it out ?
