I thought the RE 8" was more... of a "super 8" type of thing.
I certainly had heard it cost more... :blush:
I'd go to look at it myself, but RE's site now takes me about 15 minutes just to get into (now THERE'S web design for you )

Maybe I should check that one out too.. it's probably more suited to sealed enclosures, that would be easier to do in my doors.

Frank's hot sauce (or Tabasco), some butter, and that's about it...
Around here, everyone has their own secret little blend of spices to add... makes some minor flavor differences.

Granted i have cable modem and everything runs much smoother for me...but that was just the way the internet was leaning...so i went ahead and got cable modem...

btw...yeah....re8 works well in .355 sealed and .5 ported.... not too shabby for an 8...good specs....and can hammer too..

 

I've gotta go with Marshall on this one. It seems to be very smooth to navigate for me as well. And I definitely like the touch of adding music like that. The selection of music is great.

Building a website that you quite literally can only use with a broadband connection is simply ludicrous, it goes beyond "poor design".
Bear in mind, over 70% of the traffic on the web is through a dial-up connection. Also, even some broadband connections, such as poorly managed cable-modem networks, fringe area DSL, and wireless connections deliver less than speedy throughput, and an even larger percentage of dial-up users don't connect at rates higher than 50Kbps.

I've got great dial-up service, speedy enough response that on normal pages, people have been surprised that it's not cable, in fact...

They have the world's tiniest print (poor for accessibility) for links just to choose which way you want to enter, with or without intro, and there is NO non-broadband version, despite the multiple entry links.
It took 45 seconds before anything displayed on my screen, and the music was all stuttery...
I clicked on "products", and it was another 60 seconds... music still stuttery, a few more sounds... getting quite annoying...
I clicked "subs", 20 more seconds until I got the menu, music is really being annoying, little bits keep popping in, stuttering in and out...
I click XXX, and the description slides over, but no image.
Waited 2 minutes, still no picture.. so I clicked HC.
Description slides over, but no picture.
Waited 2 minutes, finally some red text pops up, and now when I mouse over things, I get red popups. No image still.
I clicked on SE, no red text, no image, just the description.
I clicked back on the HC to read whatever the text was...
no image, no text, just the description.
The music is still jumping in and out, and it's almost 10 minutes since I first entered the site.

Really bad site design. I'm connected at 53.5K right now.

 

Not to mention, as you are waiting for things to load, there's no status bar... the browser's status bar is empty, appearing to have loaded everything fully.. There's no clue to the viewer that there's anything on it's way.
Really poor, from a design standpoint, all around.

I have Cable Modem, one of the fast infact 1.5MB/s

and I have no loading issuse

but IMO it is a TERRIBLY design flash site, I hate all flash site in general, but that one is a terrible design, and very bad layout

How happy would you be if you pulled into the parking lot of your local shopping mall, and discovered that the parking lot was restricted such that only Mercedes Benz S-class, and BMW 7 series vehicles were allowed to park there, other vehicles would be ticketed and towed.
Sure... some people have them... but would you risk parking there? Would you shop at that mall, if it had that policy? Don't you think a majority of the population would stop shopping there? If you can't get there, how are you going to shop there?
Does it make business sense to create such a policy?

So why has RE essentially done just that with their very web page?

If you own a low profile sports car...and you spend 90% of your free time on OFF ROAD.....get a 4x4.

I spend a HUGE part of my time on the net.....to be stuck with 56k...is just not good enough..... so High Speed was the obvious step up....
