willy, here's another option for you, i ran these subs through bassbox and it seems to like a bigger size. The cone excursion is on the borderline though i can't get it to come back any further.

I guess I am not quite understanding this.....

What is the difference between the first box that was posted by eD-chris and this box? I am going for sound quality, so that is first and foremost important..

By the way, I got my subs today and I got that soundstream amp off of ebay, so that is gonna be drivin the subs....I got two of the dual 4 ohm model...They look very sweet.....

electro is going crazy with bassbox...for sq the oversized box that electro posted is out of the ball park

I would go with the box eD chris recommended...He DOES work for eD.

All of there subs will work very well in small enclosures...no need for 1.7 cu ft per 8 inch sub

Electro...1.7 cu ft ported for an 8 inch woofer is like saying 4-5 cu ft for a 12 inch woofer...yeah some may work but in most circumstances that is way too big. yes I do like big boxes but not when it comes down to SQ...unless that box is a transmission line, 4th order bandpass, or horn

I'm sure eD may be skeptical of their warranty for the subs if they blow in a 3.4 cu ft ported box...that would be user error

My whole reason for the 8's are to save space, get good quality low end to match up with the Eclipse HU power output & factory speakers (for now)

Here are a few pictures.....the black box it is sitting on is my home made home theater sub (2 C12 old school Kicker drivers in it)

Lol, i can'f help it..I try to make the box as small as possible but bassbox says it will suffer output? I don't know why bassbox is always wanting approximately double the recommended size? When i make it the size ed recommends it's Sucky!!! LOL

smaller boxes will create a lack of low frequency output, but in the real world, the acoustic coupling or transfer function of the car will make up one heck of a difference...

Most programs will not take into account the fact that a driver in its box will be in an automotive enviorment, nor even a home enviorment....room, or cabin acoustics play a key role in how they sound, every bit as much as the box the driver is put into

yeah...I think WinISD and BassBox have the enclosure modeled in a free air environment...inside a car makes a world of a difference
