    i`m not a mechanic, so don`t read this as the solution. But it sounds like your voltage regulator is gone, so it is sending too much juice causing...

    no ground wire

    couldn`t you run a ground back to the battery, even though it`s alot of cable for nothing....

    looking for recommended specs for Cerwin Vega
