A quick call to Cerwin-Vega got me to Bob Diamond, CV's senior design engineer. He recommended I use a sealed enclosure with an internal volume of 2.7ft3 for the best overall sound quality. Jayson Olson, master installer at Speaker Works, was enlisted to build this special enclosure. The enclosure would be constructed out of two layers of 3/4" MDF with internal bracing to add strength and minimize flexing of the enclosure walls.

 

now thats how you get a box that small to weight over 100lbs itself!

 

I can get them here for dirt cheap. I guess its better to be safe than sorry.

 

i would recommend 120mm fans due to the fact that they can rotate more slowly to move more air and therefore quieter, not like that'd be an issue anyways

im sure they used sealed to not only make it simple but to make sure it sounds good and has precision. im sure with a sub that beastly you could do a tline or ported box that would still sound good and be loud as hell

 

depends on the parameters if it will sound good in a t-line...ported i'm not sure. It should be built for ported because its a fukin beast

 

CC if you have them in a false floor go for the fans, mine are mounted on the back of my rear seat which is open to the trunk. I have driven from So cal to Vegas many times which is like a 3 1/2 hour drive and they barely get warmer then ambient air temp. They really do run very cool and I listen to a lot of music that has a lot of bass, 50 cent, kane west etc etc. But if they were in a false floor without a lot of airflow they might get warm. Just put the fans in a push pull configuration, so you have 1 blowing cool air in and 1 blowing the hot air out, just like when you build a computer. Try and have the incoming blowing over the heatsinks if possible.

I very familiar with so cal, my family has a condo out in Lancaster. Vegas isn't so far away. I should go with the fans here, the temp in so cal and here are VERY different. The amps may get a little hot here especially in a false flooring.

 

You will probably need another battery in the back along with the 0 gauge big 3 and probably a 200 amp alternator. That's a lot of wattage, if the earthquake is anything like my orion which i'm sure it is they are extremely power hungry. Umm just wondering about the earthquake amp, i'm unfamiliar with it, seems a little too cheap for the amount of power it's rated. Any comments? If it's between a descent Hifonics or Earthquake which would be better. They are roughly the same price range.

 

If both were the same price id go with Earthquake, but they are usually more expensive.

Azn, charge $25.00 each design, seriously man don't sell yourself short. Do the boxes you promised already for free but seriously dude!! Each design would take at least 2 hours to input the specs and then run it through every way possible to get the best response. $5.00 or $10.00 is too cheap, people will think they are not getting anything special for that amount anyways. It's a lot of work and it's high tech work, they will pay for your knowledge not how long it takes you. Back me up someone...You can have it all azn..."if you build it they will come" lol

 

i'm sure you can even make some money building boxes at home too.

i know you do some boxes,but if more people knew.....

 

I did run it through bassbox before, found the files. This is for a 12" stroker pro, ported, give you an idea anyways. 141 db without cabin gain..
