I'm installing a new hu & amp. I have a pigtail harness plugged into the back of the hu and another pigtail harness that plugs into the existing car wiring. Rca cables run from hu to amp. If preamp outputs are used, does hu output signal on speaker leads? Do I connect the both harness together for the front/rear speaker wires and then splice the speaker wire coming from amp into the harness or leave the speaker leads coming from the hu taped off and just tie the speaker leads from the amp into the harness that connects into the existing wiring.

    thanks

there should be an option in the HU to turn off the internal amplifier to increase RCA performance.

if your going to amplify the signal of your speakers then you won't go through the stereo. just cut the speaker wiring going to the head unit then run new wires going to the amp and tape off the wires that were going into the head unit for the speakers.

    hope that helped...
