i have a 12'' volfenhag 1000watt sub im using with a bazooka 1500el amp. sealed box most likely. Just wondering how to wire this sub as well as what the difference is for wiring for different ohms. this one can be wired for 8,4,2 ohm

ok whats the difference in performance and such for 2/4/8ohm?

it all depends on your amp and the load that it can handle... for example, if you have a kicker CVX (4ohm) sub since it is a dual voice coil sub to use BOTH of the coils you would need to wire the speaker down to 2OHM.... the rating on the CVX is 750rms (continues power) so you would need to find an amp that pushes at least around that wattage AT 2OHM

Ok ive been reading on this and i sort of get the idea but am still unsure.
I have a volfenhag 1000w sub its a dual coil i believe 500 rms. I then have a bazooka 1500el amp I want to use. its 350 rms at 4 ohms and 500 rms at 2 ohms.

The sub can be wired for 2/4/8 ohm. not sure what that means for the amp though. does that mean If i wire the sub for 4 the amp will only give 350 and if i wire it for 2 itll give 500? i know how to wire the sub for different ohms now just not sure how it affects it.
If i understand correctly I want a lower ohm wiring to increase power to the sub and I want a high ohm to decrease power to the sub in case the amp is too powerful for the amp. correct?

here are links for info on both

correct, in this case the lower the ohm load the bigger the bass hit.... so from seeing your link on the amp, you need to wire your sub to 2OHM to get the best performance, is your sub a 2ohm or 4 ohm(should say on sub somewhere)? i know you said it was a dual voice coil

1_4ohm_dvc_2ohm.gif <<<< that's how you should wire your set up, you are dropping your speaker from 4ohm to 2ohm by wiring BOTH coils
