    I just bought a 80 El Camino. It currently has a chevy 305 w/ TH-350 trans.

I'm looking into buying a 454 off of a buddy of mine to put in my el camino.

What will have to be changed in the front end to make room for the big block.....heater/AC is coming out
    BTW

    Will the trans bolt up???

The 350 will bolt up. All GM rear drive trannys use the same bolt patterns. I might suggest you look into the TH400 though. The 350 is a stout tranny, for sure, but the massive torque delivered from a big block might be the end of it. The 400 is the most bulletproof automatic tranny out there (used in Bentlys and Rolls actually). They can be had for very little money, and the upgrade will be worth it. You need to keep in mind too, that the torque converter may not bolt to a 454 flywheel, and the 305s flywheel will not bolt to the 454s crank.
