why does my sub turn off?

    i hooked everything up to my subs and the when i turn my stereo on, the sub works for like a second and then it shuts off and my amp's light for "offset" goes on...what could be the problem??....im 100% sure theres no problem with the sub...it has something to do with the sony amp but im not sure what.....anyone have an idea why my amp goes to offset mode?

    please list everything you have and how it is all wired up.

    my psychic powers are off today cuz of this damn cold weather

    yeah, we need to know what your sub is. brand, how many voice coils and if it is a 4ohm or 2ohm sub... next we have to know the exact model of the amp you are using.

    i will post the exact model once i get a chance...but basically its a sony xplod 1200watt amp, and the sub is a 10" DD......but even when the subs arent hooked up, the amp goes into offset mode

    offset i'm guessing that means protect mode... if it's going into protect, you'll have to recheck your wiring.

    1. make sure you have a proper ground. (where did you ground the amp?)
    2. recheck you power wire. what is your fuse under the hood? is the power running along side your RCA's? if so, put the rca on the opposite side of your power.
    3. Make sure no wires or strands are touching each other at the amp. also make sure all of your connection are tight.

    also if you could measure the voltage your electrical system is sustaining that would be awesome.
