I am trying to puch a JL 12" W6-V2 in the back of my jeep and I was debating on which amp to go with. Its a 4ohm subwoofer but I think you connect it to your amp to where it runs at 2 ohms. Jl parralels the circuit for you on the amp i beleive. Could someone help me? I am only trying to spend about $200 on the amp. These are two I was looking at: Phoenix Gold OCTANE-R 15.0:1 ---------------------------- • High efficiency Class "D" monoblock amplifier • 18dB variable LP crossover • 18dB variable subsonic filter • Low Pass Level port (LPL) • Dimensions: 16.5L x 10.875W x 2.25H 1500W x 1 (2 ohm mono) max power OR Phoenix Gold OCTANE-R 8.0:1 ---------------------------- • High efficiency Class "D" monoblock amplifier • 18dB variable LP crossover • 18dB variable subsonic filter • Low Pass Level port (LPL) • Dimensions: 14.75L x 10.875W x 2.25H 800W x 1 (2 ohm mono) max power Thanks
the 15.1 is actually not a bad amp i have it pushin my 15" Rockford p3 and it does just fine and my sub is 4ohm also
the 15.0.1 puts out 500 watts rms at 4 ohms and 1000 watts rms at 2 ohms. So it will do better than the 8.0.1
only way to run a w6v2 at 2 ohms is to run only 1 coil or get a second one to wire together at 2 ohms
I've ran JL subs before. I've ran JL subs with JL amps, and JL subs with crap amps. You wouldn't believe the level of quality the pair produces. I wouldn't run a JL sub with anything but a JL amp.
