I went to a DB drag competition and hit 137dbs w/ a 12" Alpine type X in my eclipse, running a sorry ass Performance Tecknique (I got the 2000 watt rms "top of the line" series supposively, i forget the model number). I went to vegas with 2 amps, a SoundStream 900D mono block and that PT. Well on the way to vegas, i was haulin ass (which got me a ticket btw), and i hit a dip which cause my amp to ground out somehow and fried the power capacitors inside the amp. The amp had no power what so ever. So when we got to the competition (which was a long grusome trip without music). I put the PT amp in real quick and 137dbs was the best we could do on the amp...even with the bass boost dial in. My 900D hit WAY harder with my subwoofer at -8 on my Panasonic CQC8100U. We won first place in our class though. I'll post pictures of the slip they gave us. Anyone have any good dbs on just a 12" w/ proven slips???

The loudest system I have ever built was 159.7db and the loudest system I have ever been in was 168 db. The loudest system I ever had was about 149 db. Prolly would have been louder, but did not dynamat the truck before I built it. Here are a pic that you can BARELY make out where the subs were in my old truck (no longer own.....Nub Graphix from American Chopper fame now owns it). The pic is just after I had my seats custom stitched and temporarily installed in the truck and while I was installing power door locks and power windows.....so that is why there is no interior in the pic.

    Who were you referring to?

If it was me it was in a 1993 S-10, I had 4 JL 10W0's with a Phoenix Gold M50 powering each pair of JL's. As for a certification, at the time I was working at a shop and I ran the SPL test at the shop, so there was no certification. I just used the truck to show my skills at the time, and did not really compete in any contests (except local type competitions).

That is if you were referring to me that is.

No idea. I've only been metered once.

    1998 dodge dakota regular cab
removed center consol, custom sealed down-firing box for 2 10" RF HE2 subs
    RF 700s amp
    Kenwood KDX-X817 HU

134.3 at some local comp where everybvdoy was metering low, and one guy flipped out cause somehow le had lost 8DB from the week before. So, I'd say that was high 130's in that truck, and I've had louder, so I guess I've been in the low 140's before

This was back in like 2001 or 2002 btw.

W0's huh? why didnt you do just two W3s? Would be the same at 4 WO's and takes less space....

I dunno about that, W0's are more efficient and take too much power to be only half as loud as a W3. W3's certinakly won't move twice as much air as a W0.

Well, I had already built the enclosure for someone else that had the exact S-10 that I had (friend that only paid for the materials....not the actual price that I would have charged if it was a customer off of the street) and he wanted 4 JLW0's in his bed. Why, I have NO idea, that is what he wanted, so I built it. He then decided to spend his money elsewhere, and I was stuck with this HUGE freakin enclosure, so I decided to put it in my truck, and I got the subs for free (I was the manager of the store, along with lead installer, so I used it as a 'company' purchase to write it off). That is why I went with what I went with.......

It also added to the other truck that I had that had 2 JLW5's in it. Those W5's were the first W5's installed in the Connecticut area.......at least that is what I was told.

My van has 2 Planet Audio FU 18's, Each 18 has 2 1-ohm voice coils. Each coil is powered by a Planet Audio Class D amp putting out 2250- watts for a total of 4500 watts per speaker and 9000-watts total system power.

But for some strange reason (which I can explain) I can only pull down a 162.8. Bummer. It should be much higher.

Crap! wish I could remember al the spl systems I did!

The loudest was 156dB, 4 2100 HCCA's and 16 XTR12DVC in single reflex bandpass, that was, well, let me think.................12 years ago.. It was measured on a certified blast mic, I forget the weighting, audio control. would have done over 160, but the customer could not afford the time alignment equipment to get all the woofers in perfect phase...long story..............

also did 4 XTR10DVCIB's on a 225 HCCA in an infinite baffle configuration, hit 142 dB, but that design is my own personal patent! LOL! wont give that secret out! EVER! did the same with 4 12 inch IB's and it hit about 145.

One system I had was believe it or not, was 4 6 inch OZ audio midbass drivers in a dual reflex enclosure, front tuned to 110 Hz, the back tuned to about 45Hz, running on a 275 SX, 129 dB!!!!!!!! but shgit they hated that!!!! didnt last much more than 2 weeks! (due to box design) Freaked people out when they saw what was making all that bass!

Done alot of 140+ dB systems throughout the early 90's. Lots of fun!

SPL systems are relatively easy these days with the advent of high excursion drivers and more efficient amp designs. Its EASY to do 150 dB nowadays, LOL, I need to get back into this car audio thing again and show all you young pups how its done!

I hit 142.6 in a S-15 Jimmy with 2 Orion XTR3 12'S with an 1988 model Rockford Fosgate Punch 45 watt amp. These amps were way underrated. This was done at a local car audio store they also told me that I had a Perfect Soundwave and if I had gone to a comp. I would have won best sound quality of any class.
