What will fit in my car?

Okay so I've got a few questions and figure this would be the place to ask it.

Anyway I've got a 2006 Chevy Malibu and I've currently got this installed in my car and this to convert it to single DIN and make up for taking the cars computer out.

Anyway the original size is double DIN and different websites tell me different in dash GPS units fit. I'm currently looking at this one from Sony but will it fit? Crutchfield only shows me the single DIN ones with the screen that comes out of that but I'd prefer one that's built right in.

I'm not very knowledgable about car audio, only home theater/building computers so could someone help me out?

    Thanks

Are you wanting a double din hu? or single? if your wanting dd then that dash kit you have will not work. and i my self would go pioneer.

You would need the specific double din install kit for your car, i would stay away from sony units, but ive had luck with only one of their models

Id say go pioneer like connerray2010 said,
    Pioneer 4200dvd comes to mind

Okay I'm looking at the Kenwood DNX6960 and this in dash kit.

Does everything check out here? Will I be able to use the wires from this to retain the cars computer functionality? I don't car if I don't have the screen.

The Kenwood is a good idea. I've had good luck with Kenwood equipment

The correct interface for your car would be the Axxess XSVI-2103-NAV. (NOT FOR OnSTAR)
This interface will have all the outputs that the NAV radio will need. For example, it will provide the VSS output, reverse output and brake. It will also provide an ignition wire.

The correct kit should be the Metra 95-3302.

So the wiring harness and everything I have from my current setup won't work with the new Kenwood? I currently have a Sony single din head unit. Here's a picture of what I've currently got.

The kenwood should come with every thing you need excluding the dash kit. So all u have to do is remove the sony harness and install the kenwood harness. Now for the gps part I'm not 100% sure about that part. I wana say it has to run to its own antenna to pick up the satellite signal so it can tell were you are and what way your moving/facing but like I say the kenwood should come with every thing you need. And I'm not sure on th gps part that's just what I recall reading some were but it was for a different brand and car.

It comes with the GPS antenna.

I ordered the Kenwood Excelon 6960 and the dash kit and wiring harness Ranger SVO recommended. I also bought the iPod cord, if I ended up already having the correct wires and everything then I'll just sell them.

Thinking of putting a double din in my 2006 Malibu as well. Just wanted to see how it all worked out for you.
