what type of speakers am i looking for?

    im looking for pure SQ (no spl at all(being i already have it)...i dont wont to amp them i just want speakers that will sound better than my stock speakers (which sound decent). there are coaxil, component, and midrange but i dont know what to get... i hear CDT is good stuff but i have never heard them in person.
    im looking for 4 speakers all 6 1/2". i dont want it to break the bank either.

    check out the Focal polyglass, but the cdts are very good sounding .

    so you want speakers that are going to run off the HU. CDT and Focal both really needs amps to make them sound great. Basically, something that is going to sound better than factory.. and not cost much. I would go with Pioneer G-Series (grey ones), Kicker DS series, Alpine type-S, or Blaupunkt even. Thats about what comes to mind with the info you have posted.

    I have heard some kick ass component sets that were under 75 bucks a pair!

    The ONLY REAL way to find out what you like is to listen for yourself.

    yeah thats what im gonna try to do sometime soon...

    if i get component speakers do i have to amp them or can i run them off the headunit?

    or should i just get coaxils?

    normally speaking any speaker can benefit from adding an amp. Components usually want to be amped. You will have more options with coaxials if you are just running off the headunit. But im sure there are some lower power component speakers out there if you want components.
