This is the amp I am going to get. Power Acoustik PS1-3000D. What 12" subs would go nice with this amp? And is this amp any good? I'm still pretty new to this. Right now I'm using a horrible Visonik Bass Package. Also, what is the diff between 4 ohm and 2 ohm and how do you get 4 ohm and 2 ohm.

not a bad amp to start out with. i can see it doing a good 1200 or so rms with enough voltage.

to me it just looks too small to do 1700 rms.

whats your budget on subs and what about a box for them?

well to put it simple. i dont want the best **** in my hood. i just want something better then my Visonik 350watt amp and the (2) 12" subs in the crappy Visonik box. I plan on getting a Bandpass box. So I'm not sure really what I need, or want, lol.

95 Ford Taurus 4dr SE. And Id like to spend no more then 300-350 between the amp and subs. sonicelectronix.com is the site im buying from. Do I need a mono amp or 2 channel amp? oh and subs arent that important right now cuz my friend is going to let me borrow is sweet 12s if my new amp blows my visoniks.

But if i do buy that amp, what subs would go nice with it, just wondering

the PA amp can be had cheaper on other sites. i saw 188 somewhere while looking for specs for your amp.

if you wish to run 1 ohm mono for 1700 watts then you will need at least 2 subs with dual 4 ohm voice coils. that way you can wire them for a 1 ohm load. or 1 sub with a dual 2 ohm coil. you can also wire that for a 1 ohm load.

so look for a decent brand that can handle the full 1700 rms or 2 that can handle at least 900-1000 watts each.

oh man look here for some deals. 50$ subs.

your right pedro, I looked at the fuses on the amp. 90 total so you're looking at about 1200 RMS with good electrical.

ToNs, what kind of wires are you using now? you should buy a mono amp for your subs. what kind of subs will you be borrowing from your friend? are the dual voice coil subs? 2ohm? 4 ohm?

ya, ToNs go with pedro and look at those eD subs, we have all heard nothing but good things about them (well minus electro, but he fries everything, LOL). i was gonna get 4 of those $50 subs until now. i got into alot of trouble and nom i am lookin at some big fines.

right now i have rockford fosgate 4 gauge. these wires are 2 years old. i was going to buy Kicker CK4 when i get the new amp. i dont know exactly what my friends subs are. all i know is his **** is not even close to being cheap, lol, sorry i dont have more info. but most likely i wont need to borrow his stuff. and that amp being only 1200watt RMS, isnt that still good? the amp i have now is like 100 RMS or something like that (no idea, has a 10A fuse). So couldnt i get cheaper subs for that Power Acoustik amp? oh and im not looking to run 1 ohm btw

you not looking to run it at 1ohm? if your not then you won't get 1200watts RMS from that PA amp. If you power it at around 2ohms then your prolly get 800 watts RMS.

Let us know how you plan on running the amp and then we could suggest some subs to go with it.

ok, running a stable 1ohm amp will give you more power to the subs. but the only way you can run an amp at 1ohm is if your sub can be wired at 1ohm.

The only way you can do this with 1 dual voice coil (DVC) sub is to buy a 2ohm DVC sub and wire it like the first diagram to get a 1ohm load.

If you use 2 DVC 4ohm subs then wire it like the 2nd diagram to get a 1ohm load.

Does that clarify things a little for you?

yeah, it does a little. so in lehmans terms, 2 ohms hits harder then 4 ohms and 1ohms hits harder then 2 ohms? and ive noticed that some mono amps have
+ - + - for speakers and some only have + -. whys that? can you still wire two speakers to the + - one?

in a nutshell that's what it means. Now, some mono amps have 2 of + and -'s and others have only one that is just done to make it a bit easier to install. when they have 2 sets of + - you really only have to use one side because once it goes into the amp it's connected all together anyway. You can connect 2 subs to a mono amp even if their are only one set of + -. you could connect as many subs as you wanted to just one + - terminal on a amp.

well, i am only 14, i was with a guy that was 18. the cop says i am younger and not getting it so bad, he said it will be for like curfew(or however u spell it), tresspassing, and destruction of property. they r all misdemeanors so that is good! it was gonna be breaking and entering(felony), destruction of property, and like posession of stolen property or something...

ok. so that PA amp will be okay for me then? so say i do 1 ohm and get about 1200 RMS, does that mean my subs should be atleast 600 RMS each?
