What size speaker wire for 500 watts?

    Today I ordered the Alpine MRP-M500(and a few other things)from Crutchfield. I have some of that Monstercable-is that what it's called-12 gauge speaker wire. Will that be big enough? The 4 ohm DVC sub will be wired in parallel for a 2 ohm load.

    i think 12 gauge would be sufficient for 500 watts.

    Yes I used the 12 gauge cable I had-the run is only about 11"-amp is mounted to box.

    Yes, consider all those expensive, great looking store displays you've no doubt seen in retail stores. If you could see behind most of them, you'd notice they probably use basic 18-gauge wire for speakers.
