What can I add to the mids and highs

I have Polk SR 6500's Bi Amped running off a JL 300/4 and need to make the front louder. I have (2) JL 13w7's and they are way overpowering. The Mids are in the doors and the tweets mounted about like if I had kicks. What can I add to get more volume from the front without killing my imaging?

Agreed, turn down the sub level or use the fader.....Could also just use one sub in the PERFECT enclosure as opposed to 2 in what might be a less than adequate enclosure. (i dont know how yours is built and what is in it)

Move the tweets up high in the door or the pillar, don't mount them just listen and see if makes a difference and check your imaging.

The SR series Polks are incredible speakers, don't be afraid to really push them hard. The crossovers have a current limiting device in them, so if you over do it, the speakers are still protected.

I personally don't like to mount tweeters to far from the midbass driver. But experiment with many different locations.

Interesting deal on the polks, I have a set 5jr's (home) that are old and worn out!!!! the tweeters in them used whqat was called, I bleieve, a polyswitch, ya, basically a self resetting breaker, Didnt know they still used the same idea in there mobile stuff........

And I for one, also, do not llike to seperate the tweeters from the mid bass too much, can really kill SQ in some ways.....I would rather have a better overall sound than a "High" image with a seperation of frequencies that kills the overall quality........but there was that time i ran a set of orion xtr 1s's in the dash of a car, from about 500Hz on up at 24 dB/oct..............sounded quite good, think i had them running on either a Soundstream referance amp or a Orion, anyway, had be carful as they would launch into next week real easy.........But all the mids and highs coming from the same source driver was a very nice experiment, the result after to a little fine tuning was an EXCELLENT soundstage with Ok imaging, i remember it was a smaller car so everything was pretty close together.....Just one of those things you try!

thanks guys I like the tweets were they are nice and close also. I have the passives running the tweets but the mids on a seperate crossover. They are Low passed at 35000 and Higs passed at 60hz the tweets are plenty loud but I have to turn the bass down a bunch to match them. I don't want to have 2 do that. The box for the subs is a great box and the right size I just like them in the JL boxes better so I could run 1 at a time if needed. I was thinking about adding kicks and putting coax polk in the doors but dont know if that will sound right. I am not going to fade to the rears though I have great sq now and am not going to do that. thanks for the help

In the SR crossovers is a current limiter that resembles a light bulb, in fact I think it is a light bulb. When the current gets to high it actually lights up like a light bulb. Point is that when it lights up, it is absorbing a lot of current.

I saw this when the owner sold a customer a Planet Amp. I like Planet Amps for LOUD but for sound Q they suck. Anyway I saw the bulbs (current limiters) light up so I called Polk. They told me that either the amp is passing a lot of current or its passing a little DC. These are not clean amps so I choose "passing A little DC". Any way the current limiter works and I think its a great idea.

    Interesting.............

My 5 jr's dont have a light bulb, they use a current limiting self resetting breaker...

Th Orin xtr 1's and 1s's used the light bulb in the x-overs, save many a diaphrams from excessive DC/clipping.........I made several back in the day similiar to them for some cheap audax 1/2 inch tweets.....very effective.........You always knew when the highs were clipping by the light bulbs in the x-overs!!!!!!!!!! Wish that idea was implemented in the dash for each amp..........Hmmmmmmmm??????????
