Hey guys, I have 2 Rockford Fosgate T212D2's that are possibly going in either a sealed or vented box. What amp should I get to power these? I was thinking a T20001BD, or a T10001BD if that is enough to power two of these guys. Thanks! Matt
Okay.. by the way. very nice drop. and different headlights? I have a nack for finding secret stylings. lol. anyway. "big spender" those subs are 1000 watts max at 2 omhs. so both of the amps will power the subs fine, but the T20001bd will be a lot louder... but it's like twice the price.. mainly, If you have the money and/or want to compete then go for the T20001bd, but the T10001BD will sound good enough. That's what I know.. someone else prove me wrong.. oh yeah.. always keep in mind. Vented/ported = rap Sealed = rock good luck!
Ibanez...no matter how many times you say that ported is rap and sealed is rock I still disagree. Most rock bands have a bass guitar correct...and the bass guitar is connected to a bass amp that is 99 percent of the time a PORTED enclosure....correct?? Enclosure is preference...just my half pence
I have always liked the sound of a sealed enclosure, it is very more precise when it comes to double kick (drums) and the sound is very desireable... Ibanez, you obviously play guitar haha, I dig that, I have been playin for 10 years, personally loooove ESP guitars, got me a KH2 hooked to a triple boogie, what about you? oh yeah we were talking sound systems, whoops sometimes I get carried away...you think 1 RF T10001BD will power two of those subs? -Matt (I have to agree with the ported/vented statement though) Oh yeah, on the rockford website it says nothing about recommended box for sealed, but only for vented/ported...
Don't put the t2's in a sealed enclosure . They were designed for ported enclosures from the ground up. 1k to each would be okay 500 to each and the subs will laugh at you.
On the enclosure info you have provided, i must respectfully disagree. A properly designed and constructed ported enclosure has slightly more output than a comparable sealed enclosure. The limiting factor of the ported box is its tuning frequency. Pretty much anything below that, the woofer produces no sound. At tuning frequency and above, the response is tight, accurate and "fast". I for one am a fan of 80's hair bands, heavy metal form the same era, and also listen too country. The most accurate sounding enclosures i have ever built were in fact ported, the kick drums and toms really shined with true attack and fast decay in the response. I have been a drummer for years, i know how it should sound! This is a very controversial subject, so, as i always say, do what sounds best to YOUR ears!
I second that.. with good quality subs, and a powerful amp, and a "correct built" sub enclosure, ported will sound much better for rap and rock. Sealed enclosures are used quite often to allow more power to a sub that can't quite take the power without the resistance. good quality sub and amps are the key, then give them the room they need, and tune them how you like, instead of stuffing them in a box that's way too small. Ibanez.. I like you, but please stop saying that.. You're stacks are ported, aren't they? do you play rap guitar?
1000w rms ,and impedence matters to the amp not sub. Kind of hard to get a 2ohm load with a 2ohm dvc sub. It will handle the same 1000w rms at 1ohm or 4ohm. I installed a single t212d2 in a friends honda accord. It's powered with a strapped pair of bd1500.1's . That thing wangs, and been doing it with that power for going on a year now
wagn love the drop on your magnum, i have an rt, do you have a forum on dodge if not think about it id like to see mor pics. im very sorry i know this is a audio forum so hears my info on that. i will never buy another fosgate sub. they sound awsome but dont last more than a year. i had a complete fosgate system 800a2 amp pushing 2 15hx2. they pounded for a while! also this was a few years ago as you can tell by the 800a2 and the hx2 seris. but i absolutly love there amps there older ones anyways and have only good things to say about them. again sorry about the magnum stuff but the other guys did it with the band thing lol.
I use a sealed in my truck but a ported in my car. I really like Hair Rock and Metal. I also play Guitar and thats the sound I most want to here. So I prefer my trucks system over the car. Most of my friends prefer the car over the truck. My son listens to more today music and also prefers the car. So I have to say its really subjective. But in a larger car I might lean toward ported for the additional output.
ported are good however i think at higher volumes it just doesnt have the same good sound reproduction as sealed. yea its louder but i go for SQ not volume
