Today, I spent about 4 hours hooking up new sound in my truck. I previously had a 2 channel amp, and I had my door speakers on it, running to my sony head unit. I got a 4 channel amp in now, with the 2 door speakers to it, and a bridged Pioneer 10' sub. I'm pretty sure I hooked everything up properly, but whenever the car is on (the amps on), I get this weird high pitch frequency noise coming through my speakers. Even if the volume is off. Anytime the cd player and amp have power, the sound plays. I have a stick shift. Whenever I'm reving up, the noise gets higher pitched. In neutral, it'll die down a bit. It seems like a high pitched buzz is mimicing my engine. It's so annoying...anybody have a solution or ever had this before?
No, well they were. Whenever I had the 2 channel amp, they all were. This time, they were all on the driver's side. Once I heard the noise, I took the new RCAs I have for the sub, and wired them through the passengers side.
Hmm, actually I don't know if I do or not. I have it grounded to the same spot, which used to work great. For my new amp, I'm using 8 gauge wire instead of the old 12. On the ground wire, they have that metal circle that you're supposed to put on the screw sort of like a washer, right? Well, I that little circle thing broke off, so I wrapped the huge 8 gauge wire around the screw, and put it in. The amp holds power well, but I have this noise. Should I put both pairs of RCAs on the passengers side, to get them away from the power? Right now I only have the sub RCAs on the passengers side.
Is the ground on bare metal without any paint? and yeah I would move the other set of rca's to the other side also.
Yeah, I scraped the paint off pretty well. I'm gonna move the other RCA's in the morning, I'll let you know how it goes. thanks for the help
