ok as you may know my truck broke down on my way to a show. anyways i checked the fuel delivery, and no probs there. plenty of pressure and the filter is fine. so my bud asked me to describe it and from the sound of it. it may have been thrown out of time. having 216,000 miles on it dont help. so when i get a chance i'll check if its out of time or not. wish me luck, cause if its the timing it'll only cost 63.00 for the timing set.
ok i feel like such a dummy. i havent had any time to check too much under the hood well guess what i found when i ttok off the distro cap!!!??? the gosh dang roter came loose and was free spinning around the cap!! can you fricken believe it?!! well as i write this i have yet to bolt it up. wish me luck.
just got back from driving it around the block and all is A ok. man was i bummed the whole week i was off. all this time it was something as simple as the cap coming loose in the distro. anyone ever hear of anything like that? it was sooo simple, i was lost. its always something simple too.lol
its always something simple and dumb that will e'ff you up. about 15 years back i helped a bud install a 6 ch amp in his 280Z and it was late. like 1am late and all i had left to do was hook the batt back up and tune it. well 2hrs later i still couldnt get any power to anything and i checked and rechecked my install, and all it was is that i wired the batt backwards:huh:. boy did i feel stupid.
new prob. my redtop finally gave out. so i had to get a new batt. so i got a duralast gold from autozone. ive read good reviews on this batt also it has an 8 year warrenty.3 yrs free replacement and the rest is prorated. i would have liked to get another redtop but they are 166 new and more than i could afford at this time. i do know a guy that sells them new for 100 (his comp buys them by the pallet) but he doesnt offer any warrenty at all. so i got this one. http://www.autozone.com/autozone/ca...ne+Maintenance&parentId=cat10003&questions=[]
funny thing too. when i went to advance auto the person behind the counter told me that the batt they had may not be large enough for my truck due to the "monster" system i have and may void the warranty. according to her the batt would be drained when i "crank on it". i said i dont do that without the car running. she said it dont matter it runs off the batt. so i thanked her for her time and left. it cost too much anyways. ? i do know that the batt takes over for brief moments to cover what the alt cant, but not full time like she stated.
hahahaha. that's funny as hell. I can't imagine that they have people working for them that don't even know what they are talking about. I'm still using my piece of crap AC delco battery and it still working fine. lol
well now my alarm is acting up a lil. when i arm it it will lock the doors but not flash the lights or arm the system. if i push the button repeatedly it will arm. i checked the fuse and it was half burned up so i replaced it thinking it was the prob. it sucks cause i cant take it to CC which did the install and i had a lifetime warranty according to them.
alarm is fine. i guess the half burned fuse was the culprit. oh and the good news just keeps on coming. ive been hearing a squealing sound from my passenger side for about a week now but havent had the time to inspect it. so i took the front passenger tire off to find the inside part of the rotor with a nasty lil groove in it. the pad is fine. its like 1/4 in thick. its the wear indicator( the part that sqeals when they are worn). it was bent into the rotor. i must have hit something that went in there and hit it. anyways the parts are relatively cheap. pads are 16. rebuilt calipers are 14 each, and the rotors are 40 apiece. i pulled the squeal indicator out a fuzz and it didnt affect the brakes at all. its quiet now but now i know they need attention soon. i'm still pricing rotors,so if anyone knows of a place that has em cheaper let me know. it always happens in 3's. distro cap 1,batt 2, now the brakes!!!!
well i just got back from running some more errands and the brakes seem to be ok for now.(they have always worked well. except for being noisy this past week or so) so they will just have to wait another 2 weeks or lil longer till i can get some more cash for parts. looks like i wont be participating at the next up coming show on the 26th of this month.
damn, that sucks pedro. that's what usually happens though to older cars. I'm starting to get a lot of little things happening to mine now too. At least the parts for the brakes aren't that bad. Did you try looking on egay for parts? you may be able to find them cheaper there.
