how would i do that?? i dont really know much about car audio if you can help me i would really appreciate it
in my opinion though I wouldn't get that amp. I would be looking for an amp that would probably give you 800 watts at 1ohm or an amp that will give you 800 watts at 4ohms. the problem with the amp you picked is that if you wire the subs into 1ohm it's way too much power and you'll risk frying the voice coils. Did you already buy this stuff or are these just suggestions? What's your budget?
i already bought all this stuff i got 2 12 w6v2 hooked up to the hifonics http://ampguts.realmofexcursion.com/Hifonics_Brutus_BX2005D/ <~~same one i got can u tell me what amp will be perfect for both of these subs and how to wire please im new at all this just want it to sound good with out damage
well, since you have it already just wire you subs like the diagram i attached above. that will put you at a 4 ohm load. you'll be giving 325watts per sub. you should be fine like that and your amps should run VERY cool that way. Hifonics are 1ohm stable but your subs can't handle that kind of power.
what about jl audio 500/1 will it be better than the amp i got now for the subs??? .............ok if i wire the subs the way u said i will just use one connection at the box?? or how do i do that
650 watts is plenty of power. Just use one terminal at the box. your amp probably has 2 sets of connections but you just have to use one set, it's all connected as one inside the amp anyway. Hifonics is a lot cheaper than a JL amp. If it were me, I would just use the Hifonics.
I would just keep the Hifonics if i were you. no need to trade it. It's a good amp. what kind of box are you going to use for your JL's? sealed? vented? are you making your own or buying a ready made? I would be more concerned with the box than anything. the kind of power you are pushing to your subs doesn't mean a thing if it's in a crappy box.
the amp you have now has more power than the 500/1. unless you want an a jl set up keep what you have. that way you have the ability to upgrade to more power in the future. you wrote that you keep blowing fuse's. how big is the fuse under your hood? make a list of all your equipment so we can better help you with your problem.
i have a sealed box im not sure if its to jl specs ill take pictures of it tomorrow and post it i was running 100a fuse under the hood thats the one that keep blowing this its my whole set up i got a optima battery going to get a 150 fuse under hood jvc stereo not sure what model alpine type r 6 1/2 and component alpine type r 6.9 jl audio300/4 hifonics bx2005d 2 12 w6v2 sealed box
so would i have to drill a whole in the middle of the box to pass the speaker wire from one sub to the other?
yup, the 100a fuse was too small for what you have, that's why is kept blowing. What kind of bass do you want? most of us around here use ported cuz we like really loud bass.
is there a way i could wire them using both the terminals in the box?? but still have a 4 ohm load?? http://akamaipix.crutchfield.com/ca/learningcenter/car/subwoofer_wiring/2DVC_4-ohm_2ch.jpg will this work for mine? my amp has ++-- for the subs im not sure if its 2 channel right now it has both the box terminals connected to the amp but im not sure how is the subs are wired inside the box
ok, the good thing is that your hifonics has two sets of terminals, right? if so then you can wire it up that way. Anyway, the Hifonics mono amp was made to make installation a lot easier so you can do it that way. your Hifonics isn't a 2 channel amp. it a mono amp but has two sets of terminals, they all meet up as one in the inside
